⚠️ South Wye Safer Neighbourhood Team Community Alert ⚠️

We have received reports of individuals in an unmarked, non-refrigerated van calling at properties in the Garway area claiming to be selling fish.

Residents reported that the individuals were not wearing any company uniform and were unable to provide identification, credentials or promotional material when requested. One individual claimed to have previously visited a local address, however the resident and neighbours were not aware of any prior visits.

While doorstep traders may be legitimate, residents are reminded to exercise caution when dealing with uninvited callers. Be wary of anyone offering goods for sale from vehicles, particularly where they are unable to provide proof of identity, business details or appropriate licensing documentation.

This activity took place on a Sunday afternoon and has caused concern amongst local residents regarding the true purpose of the visit.

✅ Ask for identification and business details.
✅ Do not allow unknown individuals into your property.
✅ Report any suspicious behaviour, vehicles or callers to police via 101, or online at https://www.westmercia.police.uk.

UPDATE | Man identified following sexual assault in Hereford

We issued an appeal earlier today to identify a man in connection with a sexual assault at a bar in Hereford.

The man has now been identified. Thank you for sharing our appeal.

We are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision in Herefordshire in which two people sadly died.

The collision happened on the A49 at Dinmore at around 4.10pm yesterday (Tuesday 13 October) and involved a Vauxhall Astra, a Citroën C3 Picasso and a DAF lorry.

Sadly, the driver of the Vauxhall, a man in his 40s, and a passenger, a man in his 20s, were pronounced dead at the scene.

A 59-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs. He has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.

Officers investigating the collision would like to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened and from anyone who was travelling in the area at the time that may have captured relevant dashcam footage.

APPEAL | Did you witness a collision in Hereford?

Officers are appealing for witnesses following a multiple vehicle collision in Hereford yesterday afternoon (Sunday 11 October).

Police were called to the A49, Ross Road, shortly before 3pm after a Honda Elegance collided with several other vehicles.

The collision took place at the traffic light junction to the A465.

The driver of another vehicle involved suffered serious and potentially life-changing injuries and was taken to hospital by air ambulance.

Three other people suffered injuries and were taken to hospital.

No arrests have been made.

Officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision, or the vehicles involved in the moments before, to please get in contact.

Any relevant dashcam footage has also been requested by officers to be reviewed.

SENTENCED | A child sexual abuser from Herefordshire was sentenced to 14 years in prison when he appeared in court yesterday (Wednesday 7 October).
David McKimmie, 62, of Hope under Dinmore, was found guilty of the 13 offences. Read more here ⬇️

SENTENCED | A child sexual abuser from Herefordshire was sentenced to 14 years in prison when he appeared in court today (Wednesday 7 October).

David McKimmie, 62, of Hope under Dinmore, was found guilty of the below 13 offences following a trial in November 2025 where he was found guilty for 11 offences relating to one victim and the remaining two following another trial in September relating to a separate victim.

• Seven counts of assault female child under 13 by touching

• Four counts of assault a girl under 13 by pe*******on

• One count of cause / incite a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity

• One count of sexual activity with a female child

McKimmie was sentenced to a total of 14 years in prison, made subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) for 15 years, and ordered to pay court costs of £6,000.

PC Chris Yarwood, officer in case, said: “We are pleased to get this custodial sentence for McKimmie and would like to pay tribute to the survivors of his perverted actions for their courage in coming forward and giving us the evidence that has led to this successful conviction.

“They have patiently waited while this has gone through the courts over a few years, but we hope today’s sentencing will help them to move on with their lives and that it encourages other survivors of sexual abuse to come forward.

“Our message to anyone who has suffered similar abuses is we will always listen to you and act where appropriate no matter when the offences took place.”

CAN YOU HELP? | Appeal following burglary from Hereford church

Officers are appealing for information after a number of items have been stolen from St Paul’s Church in Hereford.

It is thought the church was broken into sometime between the end of September and the start of October.

Items including an air fryer and the vestry door keys have been reported as stolen.

PC Chloe Powell who is looking into the incident is appealing to anyone who witnessed anything which might help with enquiries or have any other information.
