🚨 Would you know a rubbish deal if you saw one?

A professional looking advert, positive reviews, and a tempting price can make a waste collector appear legitimate. But once your rubbish leaves your hands, do you know where it will end up?

Over the next two weeks, we’ll be supporting Keep Britain Tidy’s Fight Fly-tipping Fortnight. At the same time, our Enforcement Team will be reviewing local reports and intelligence, identifying priority locations and carrying out targeted work across the district.

Before paying someone to take your rubbish away:

✅ Ask for their waste carrier registration number
✅ Check it on the Environment Agency’s public register
✅ Make sure you will receive a receipt

Could your health and care experience make a difference in someone’s life?

If you work in health or social care, you already have valuable skills that could make you a fantastic Shared Lives Carer.

Shared Lives carers open their homes and lives to adults who need extra support, helping them build confidence, develop independence and stay connected to their communities.

You’ll build a positive relationship with the person you support and work alongside professionals to help them live as independently as possible.

And you don’t need to give up your career or have previous care qualifications to become a Shared Lives Carer. Full training, matching and ongoing support are provided.

You could receive up to £650 per week for each adult you support, with potential tax benefits.

More than 100 people in Herefordshire have become Shared Lives carers since 2022.

Flood Action Week: Working with nature to reduce flood risk

We're working with landowners across the county to deliver Natural Flood Management (NFM) measures that help reduce flood risk to local communities.

NFM uses natural processes and land management techniques to slow the flow of water and store it in upland areas. This helps reduce the amount of water reaching rivers and streams further downstream during heavy rainfall, helping to protect communities from flooding.

📍 This attenuation area at Croft Castle, in the Cheaton Brooks catchment, is a great example of how natural flood management can help manage water and reduce flood risk.

🚧 Wilton rock face works to begin on 19 October

Our work to provide a long term solution to the risk of rockfall at Wilton Road in Ross-on-Wye will begin next week, running until 11 Dec 2026.

The improvements will help manage future rockfalls and include new drainage, a rock trap and a new stone faced wall designed to blend in with the surrounding rock face.

⚠️ Please plan ahead:
Wilton Road will be fully closed between both junctions with Wye Street, and Royal Parade will also be closed throughout the works. Signed diversions will be in place.

Signed diversion routes will be in place, but road users are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys. Pedestrian access will be maintained wherever possible.

We recognise these closures will cause disruption and thank residents, businesses and road users for their patience while this important work is carried out.

Could you help save a life?

Knowing what to do in the first few minutes of a cardiac arrest can make a vital difference. That’s why Hoople Training is supporting Restart a Heart by offering free CPR training at venues across Hereford.

It's your chance to learn and practise basic CPR techniques and find out how to locate and use a defibrillator.

The sessions take around 20 minutes you don't need to book, just drop in
