🌈 Looking for something bold this Pride Month? Oh Miriam! by Miriam Margolyes certainly delivers.

Raucous, candid, and very, very funny, this memoir is full of larger-than-life stories and sharp wit. It’s a brilliant reminder to live authentically — and loudly.

🔍 For our next Crime Reading Month pick, we’re heading a little closer to home with The Wine of Angels by Phil Rickman.

Set right here in Herefordshire, this atmospheric novel blends mystery, folklore, and the supernatural into a slow-burning and deeply unsettling read. Rich in local history and sense of place, it’s perfect for anyone who enjoys crime with a darker, more haunting edge.

If you’re in the mood for something immersive and eerie — and a little bit familiar — this one’s perfect for you!

🌈 Looking for a mystery with a q***r twist this Pride Month? A Q***r Case by Robert Holtom is one to have on your radar.

Blending intrigue with a distinctly LGBTQ+ perspective, this sharp and engaging novel delivers a compelling case alongside thoughtful representation. It’s an ideal pick for readers who like their fiction a little bit twisty and a little bit different.

🔍 For our next Crime Reading Month recommendation, we’re putting Russ Thomas’ Detective Sergeant Adam Tyler series under the magnifying glass — with a cheeky nod to Pride Month too 🌈

Set in Sheffield, this gripping series follows DS Adam Tyler as he investigates complex cases in a dark, atmospheric world of contemporary crime fiction. With a gay detective at its centre, the series brings q***r representation into the heart of the genre without losing any of its tension or edge.

If you’re hunting for your next twist-filled read, this is one to pick up!

🌈 For our next Pride Month pick, we’re highlighting Detransition, Baby by Torrey Peters.

Sharp, funny, and completely unforgettable, this acclaimed novel explores gender, relationships, and chosen family with honesty and heart. Following three characters navigating an unexpected pregnancy, it’s a story that’s as messy and complicated as real life.

A must-read piece of contemporary q***r fiction

🏡📚 Libraries Change Lives Beyond Our Walls

Today we’re highlighting how our libraries reach beyond our buildings to support people wherever they are.

Our Home Library Service brings the library to you if getting to a branch isn’t always easy. Whether it’s due to mobility, health, caring responsibilities, or just a temporary difficulty, the service is here to help.

You don’t have to be housebound to use it, and it’s also available to unpaid carers. It can be something you use for a short time, or a longer-term service—whatever works best for you.

You’re welcome to choose your own books, or our team can carefully select titles based on what you enjoy—bringing the library straight to your door and making sure everyone can stay connected to the joy of reading, no matter their circumstances.

Find out more on our website or get in touch to see how we can help 😊

💬 Libraries Change Lives Through Connection

Today we’re celebrating something at the very heart of our service—connection 💛

Whether it’s swapping book recommendations with our friendly team, joining one of our readers groups, racing to complete your Book Bingo card before your friends, getting crafty at Hobby Hive, or coming along to quizzes, talks and events—there are loads of ways to get involved.

Or just perhaps it’s something quieter, but just as precious… a free, welcoming space to sit, read and watch the world go by.

Our libraries are here to support whatever level of connection you want—whether that’s meeting new people, sharing interests, or just taking a moment for yourself.

Come in and make the most of it 😊

🔍 For Crime Reading Month, we’re venturing into the shadows of history with The Edge of Darkness by Vaseem Khan.

Set in 1950s Bombay, this richly atmospheric crime novel blends mystery with a vivid sense of place, as investigators uncover dark secrets in a newly independent India. Thoughtful, immersive, and full of intrigue, it’s a standout for readers who enjoy historical crime with real depth.

Perfect if you’re looking for something a little different from your usual crime reads.
