Hertford and Ware Sea Cadets Events

Hertford and Ware Sea Cadets Events As a Sea Cadet you can go to sea, learn to sail and do adventure training, plus get extra skills to give you a great head start in life.

We are Hertford & Ware Sea Cadets and part of the UK's oldest nautical youth charity. The first Sea Cadet unit was established in 1854 at Whitstable in Kent, created by communities wanting to give young people instruction on a naval theme. Traditionally old seafarers provided training while local businessmen funded the Unit Headquarters. The tradition of community - based Sea Cadet Units continues

today with 400 across the UK each with charitable status enabling them to raise funds to meet their running costs. All Units are members of the Sea Cadet Corps and are governed by the national charity MSSC - the Marine Society & Sea Cadets. We work partnership with the Royal Navy under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and receive corporate support from commercial shipping companies and the Maritime sector. Our core purpose is to celebrate Britain's maritime heritage and contribute to its future development by supporting young people as Sea Cadets. Hertford and Ware Sea Cadet Corps has been on the river in Hertford for many years. The winter allows time for training and indoor competitions, in the summer there are boating activities, training and competitions. Please do respect our traditional values as we may endeavour to serve the local comunity and be responsible for our lives and actions. Please enquire at the unit on a Parade Night to find out more. Details may be found under the "Parade Times" section.

Hertford and Ware Sea Cadets are actively seeking new adults to assist with providing our cadets with the best possible experience we can.
If you are able to assist either as a member of the unit committee (fund raising / looking after the unit grounds and premises / catering at unit weekends or events / general maintenance / etc) or are interested in becoming part of the instructional staff please feel free to pop into the unit on a parade night or email us at [email protected] and we can give you an idea of what the roles entail and what commitment (courses / training / etc) is required.

Alternatively the unit AGM will be taking place on the 8th July, 2016. There will be representatives from both the Committee and the training team available to talk to if you feel you can help in either capacity.

Thanks.
