The Myp interviews were on Wednesday evening. During the evening there was team games, learning more about the role, debates and speeches! 8 young people are through to the next stage, Farah, Hoorai, Hussain, Kundai, Sarah, Nesochi, Amelia and Benedicte. Well done to all the young people!

Hello everyone the Member of Youth Parliament applications are now open! Are you aged 11-19 interested in politics and making a difference then you should definitely apply. If you are unsure about what members of Youth Parliament do then come along to our event tomorrow (06/12/2023) at 6:30pm - 7:30pm where you can chat to the current myps and the youth cabinet. This evening I've been doing some research on mental health and mental illnesses and did you know one in 4 10-14 year olds experience a mental disorder! I want all young people and adults to know there is always help out there you are never alone someone is always there for you to talk to and I know it may be hard opening up about how your feeling but please don't keep it to yourself.

Tonight I attended the youth club open day at Sandon house it was really good a lot of young people ages 7-12 were there they all had a great time and were all happy. A massive well done to your trust Rochdale and Sandon house community centre for making this happen this is definitely what the young people need. There was facepainting, name the cat, pass the pumpkin, Arts and crafts, video games and lots more it was amazing. I even let the young person I went with paint my face as a cat it looks really good!!

Tonight I attended the black history month trip with Rochdale Youth Service where we heard Joyce the deputy member of Youth Parliament for Rochdale and Pennines talk about black history month and what she's been doing and then a 5 minute drumming performance. After that we looked at all the different outfits that were brought and even had a game of uno (sadly I didn't win 😂) then we had some food and took part in a drumming workshop. I've helped host the mayor's youth awards 2022, children's champion and did a 4 way speech at the holocaust memorial day at Middleton arena. I also attended yofo fest along with other youth cabinet members and people from all across the country where we did workshops such as fast fashion, allyship, mental health, environment and more and did a range of activities including high ropes, canoeing, orienteering and even a silent disco which was awesome 😊 I attended the new yard youth service open day and have met with local councillors to discuss the environment.

Then the election night came where we found out who the new Myp and deputy myp were. Emilia wakeman was the first ever myp for heywood and middleton and issac Bell was the first deputy myp but due to personal reasons issac stepped down and I was elected as the new deputy myp. I've been to sessions such as outdoor campfire with the children's champions and other young people and even went down to London where emilia and Henry the myp for Rochdale and pennines debated on issues in the house of commons. We visited the sky Gardens, the London Eye, the Tower of London, hyde Park, the imperial War museum and other beautiful attractions we even went ice skating 😳 which i wasn't the best at 🤣🤣
