Today we were honoured to be invited to take part in the Hayfield May Queen.

Was such a great turn out and a great effort from all the organisers and the parents and children involved such a shame the weather didn’t help them out with a down poor of rain.

👩‍🚒 Celebrating International Women's Day 👩‍🚒

New Mills WI organised a fantastic IWD event for Members this week - meeting Firefighters Laura and Tiffany at New Mills Fire Station 🚒

Laura and Tiffany talked us through the history of women in the service explaining that the first female firefighter was 17 year old Josephine Reynolds who joined Norfolk Fire and Rescue in 1982, just 44 years ago! 😮

The percentage of female firefighters in the Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service is now 12.7% showing a year on year increase.📈

There are absolutely no compromises on training and all the women firefighters undertake exactly the same extensive training as their male colleagues. 🏋️

Both Laura and Tiffany are inspiring advocates for the Fire and Rescue Service their dedication and passion for the role shone through their presentation.✨

International Women's Day is on the 8th of March and what a brilliant start to this weekend's celebrations. Huge thank you to the WI and Laura and Tiffany for such a memorable evening! 👏👏
