Design is as much about listening as it is about creating. By understanding what clients need (and sometimes what they didn’t know they wanted) I strive to create spaces that function effortlessly.

Every project starts with uncovering the details, ideas, and aspirations that make a space truly personal.

Let's start a conversation today.

This cosy den was once a garage; now it’s the perfect blend of comfort, craftsmanship, and personality.

✨ The brief was to create a space for relaxing, entertaining, and displaying a whisky collection all while maintaining access to multiple doors, incorporating storage smartly and keeping the colour palette neutral.

🛋️ The design:

A comfy sofa for film nights

A bespoke bar with stools for hosting friends

A concealed dartboard behind custom cabinetry

Warm ambient lighting and layered textures for a welcoming glow

Striped tiles inspired by the client’s favourite team, St Mirren

It’s proof that even the trickiest spaces can become something special with a little creativity. Would you like to relax in this space?

Soft ambient lighting creates a warm and inviting atmosphere and intimacy that encourages conversation and connection. The table dressing makes the space both refined and relaxed

Whether you’re reimagining your dining area or planning a full home renovation, thoughtful design can completely transform how you use your space.

It was a privilege to design .mcr a space that celebrates creativity and originality, so I'm grateful to have such a great response to my work.

Carving out individuality is always at the heart of my work, and this project was the perfect opportunity to bring that to life in a space with curated mid-century pieces and bespoke features like the acoustic wall panelling that adds a real focal point to the space, as well as functionality.

If you are opening a bar and want help with the design, let's chat!

Could you imagine yourself relaxing
in here?

This den started life as a garage, but is being
converted into a cosy retreat made for movie nights, a
drink with friends, and a game of darts (hidden neatly
behind bespoke cabinetry 👀).

Combining warm ambient lighting, organic textures and
sleek striped tiles (a nod to the client’s favourite team,
St Mirren ⚫⚪). A comfortable sofa, bespoke bar, and
smart storage make the space as functional as it is
inviting.

With four doors requiring access, attention was given to
flow. The desired neutral colour palette is lifted with
the introduction of the tiles and prints. If you are
looking to convert a garage space, reach out, and I can
help take the stress out of the process

A very real week in the life of an Interior Designer running her own business 👇

Monday:
Finished up the design phase of a project and delivered it. Then picked up my daughter from nursery and went swimming, got off to a good start!

Tuesday:
Heart-warmed by an email with some lovely feedback about yesterday's delivery. Talked with a business mentor to help come up with a Marketing Strategy. Scheduled some social media posts (always takes more effort than expected!). Met with a potential new client and sent over a quote.

Wednesday:
Photographed a project and sorted through the photos. Worked on my portfolio, updating the imagery and making it more relevant. Had a call with a Marketing Assistant to discuss my options on (costly!) ads.

Thursday:
Dealt with the admin of invoices (one day I'll have a PA 😅). Went out to meet some local Estate Agents. Added a couple of blog posts to my website to help with SEO (I sound like I know what I'm talking about right?!)

Friday:
Only 3 hours of childcare, so it's always an agile day... researched lighting for a project. Booked some networking events. Was at a playgroup session with my daughter, then midway got an enquiry with an on-site concern, so ended up stopping off at a couple of suppliers to resolve, 4-year-old in tow!

Saturday:
Checked out the renovation of the Museum of Science and Industry's new Power Hall; then visited the beautifully designed new Bar Shrimp; an inspiring afternoon all round.

Sunday:
Reset with a long woodland walk. The autumnal colours are stunning right now.

Freelancing isn’t a straight path; it’s a constant flit between mayhem and calm, invoices and inspiration. I was an odd week with not much design involved. The inconsistency can be unsettling, but I love being busy so I'm always learning something new and pushing myself out of my comfort zone to better my business. Are you a small-business owner who loves the challenge or would you rather things were a bit more predictable?

Renovating soon? Avoid these 5 common mistakes that can cost you time, money, and sanity!

1️⃣ “Figuring it out as you go” – Lack of planning can derail so many aspects of a renovation. I love a well-thought-out plan, and take great pleasure in creating one for you.
2️⃣ Compromising on trades – Working with trusted partners is essential for achieving results that are both sleek and durable.
3️⃣ Forgetting about storage – Be realistic and ensure you have plenty of discreet, accessible storage designed around your lifestyle.
4️⃣ Scrimping on hardware – Quality fixtures elevate a space and stand the test of time, so they’re always worth the investment.
5️⃣ Overlooking lighting – Layered, warm lighting transforms a room. Plan it early to avoid costly changes later on.

✨ Save this post for later and thank yourself mid-reno! Or better yet, reach out to Beam Interiors and I’ll help you plan, design, and deliver a renovation that feels effortless from start to finish.

Layered, warm, tactile materials and sculptural silhouettes feature in the mood board for the living room design. Natural materials like stone, wood and wool in pebble tones, was inspired by the surrounding coastline.

This was a remote design package but the location is close to my heart as it’s where I grew up. I always aim to deliver considered designs for my clients, resulting in cohesive, elevated spaces that resonate with them and work with their lifestyle.

Have you got a small bathroom that you dream of transforming? My clients longed for a sanctuary in their home but struggled to envisage how they could achieve that in the tired and cramped 3.5sqm space

With clever design I brought in more light replacing the window with a roof light which also gave wall space for plenty of discrete storage. Bespoke wood cabinetry from adds warmth. Gorgeous fluted tiles and shower screen draws the eye up enhancing the sense of space and a marble sink adds that touch of quiet luxury
