🌿 Mill Pond Project Update 🌿💦

The Parish Council would like to provide residents with an update on the ongoing Mill Pond project, adjacent to The Grouse and Ale.

The Council is currently working with specialist companies to develop and refine the design proposals for the area. This is a significant project, and from the outset it was never intended to be a quick fix. The project is planned over an 18-month period, allowing time to carefully consider the design, environmental impact, biodiversity opportunities and long-term sustainability of the site.

We understand that residents are keen to see progress and we can assure you that the Council will continue to work hard with all parties involved to move the project forward. Taking the time to get things right now will help ensure the best possible outcome for both the community and local wildlife.

We have also received enquiries regarding the ducks. It is worth noting that the local duck population naturally moves between Mill Pond, Foundry Pond, Ditchfield Pond and other nearby water sources. Their presence at any particular pond will vary throughout the year as they move around the local area. 🦆

We appreciate the continued interest and support shown by residents and will provide further updates as the project progresses.

🍂 Autumn & Winter Preparations ❄️

As the days become shorter and the weather begins to turn colder, now is a good time to start preparing for the autumn and winter months ahead.

🍁 Clear leaves from pathways, driveways and drains around your property where it is safe to do so. Wet leaves can become slippery and blocked drains can contribute to localised flooding during heavy rainfall.

🏡 Check that your heating system, boiler and smoke alarms are working properly before the colder weather arrives.

🚗 Keep an eye on your vehicle maintenance, including tyres, lights and windscreen washer fluid, particularly as darker mornings and evenings become more common.

🤝 Consider checking in on elderly or vulnerable neighbours, especially during periods of cold weather. A simple phone call or knock on the door can make a real difference.

🧤 If severe weather is forecast, make sure you have essential supplies at home and take extra care when travelling.

By taking a few simple steps now, we can all help keep ourselves, our families and our community safe and prepared throughout the autumn and winter season.

🌙 As the Evenings Get Darker... Keep Your Home Safe 🏡

With the clocks due to change soon and darker evenings approaching, now is a good time to review a few simple security measures that can help protect your home and belongings.

🔒 Lock doors and windows, even when you are at home or only stepping out for a short time.

💡 Use outdoor lighting where possible. Well-lit properties can help deter opportunistic crime and make pathways safer for visitors.

👀 Stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police. If you see something that doesn't look right, don't assume someone else will report it.

🚗 Protect your vehicle by removing valuables from sight and ensuring it is locked when unattended. Items left on display can attract unwanted attention.

Most crime prevention starts with a few simple precautions. By working together and looking out for one another, we can help keep our community safe throughout the autumn and winter months.
Please also remember to check in on elderly or vulnerable neighbours, especially as the weather becomes colder and the evenings draw in.

🎃 Halloween is Fast Approaching.🎃

With Halloween on 31st October just around the corner, many families will be looking forward to dressing up, decorating their homes and enjoying some trick-or-treating fun.

However, we recognise that not everyone wishes to take part, and some residents may feel vulnerable or simply prefer not to receive callers at their door.

To help everyone enjoy a safe and respectful Halloween, if you would prefer not to participate in trick-or-treating, please feel free to print and display a sign like the one shown in your window or on your front door.

A visible sign lets visitors know your wishes and helps encourage consideration for all members of our community.

🎃 Please remember: If a house displays a "No Trick or Treat" sign, please respect the resident's request and do not knock or call at the property.

Thank you for helping to make Halloween enjoyable and considerate for everyone. 🧡
