Stream-dipping at Hughenden

Join the Chilterns Chalk Streams Project for a family-friendly exploration of Hughenden’s rare chalk stream environment.

Discover the incredible mini-beasts and macroinvertebrates living beneath the surface and learn more about why these globally rare habitats are so important.

This event is free, but booking is essential as spaces are limited (only 15 places available).

🌿 Rain or Shine, We Still Made a Difference 🌿

As part of the and , our team spent the day at West Wycombe Hill carrying out a litter pick and helping to care for this special landscape.

Although the weather was a little wet, our colleagues were still out on the hill doing their bit to keep the site clean, safe, and welcoming for both visitors and wildlife. Every bag of litter collected helps protect nature and preserve this beautiful place for future generations.

A big thank you to our wonderful colleagues for giving their time and energy to support West Wycombe Hill and the wider community. 💚

Together, even the smallest actions can make a lasting difference.

5 June 1944.

On the D-Day, work continued at Hughenden.

During the Second World War, Hughenden Manor was home to a secret map-making operation, codenamed Hillside.

Around 100 men and women worked here, producing maps from aerial reconnaissance photographs to support RAF Bomber Command.

Today, in the Hillside presentation, visitors can hear some of their stories through the audio-visual display and explore the rooms where this work took place.

This week we remember everyone involved in D-Day, and those whose work happened behind the scenes.
