Flackwell Heath Community Library - It’s YOUR Library – Be Part Of It !! See how our community library can help you:

We have a Local History Group who set up permanent displays in the library and give regular presentations. Our talks are getting very popular and need to be booked in advance. We organise “Silver Surfer” courses for those older members of the community who wish to access to the internet. We arrange internet courses for those wishing to trace their family history. We participate in local events such as the Village Picnic. We have regular activities such as Craft and Coffee, Bounce and Rhyme for under 5's and Sewing Bee. We have free to use computers (1st hour free for library members then 50p per 15 minutes). Printer also available for photocopying and printing: 15p per black and white sheet, 60p per colour sheet.

Relax, stitch and create – Discover the Joy of Quilting

The Quilters Guild believes in the joy of stitching and quilting can be enjoyed by everyone, both young and old.
Quilting can be a brilliant way to unwind, relieve stress, and express creativity. Focusing on a project can divert attention from everyday emotions and worries and provide a calming effect. Participating in creative activities is a fantastic way to relax and promote good mental health, as it reduces stress and lowers blood pressure

Come along on Sat 22nd August and try some slow stitching for yourself. You will be guided through making one or two projects using hand stitching and/or a sewing machine.

Everyone is welcome-: the young and the not-so-young! No prior knowledge needed… just a willingness to sit, relax and enjoy creating!

ONE WEEK TO GO to the beginning of the Summer Reading Challenge here at Flackwell Heath Community Library.

Do you have a child ages 4-11 years old? Do they need some encouragement to, or do they already love to read?

The Summer Reading Challenge is suitable for both, as it encourages and rewards children to read. The standard challenge is to read six books of their choice (fiction, non-fiction. audiobooks, poetry,, comics, etc) during the summer holidays. And this year the challenge is called 'Read to the Beat' and is music based.

Come in to the library to register (and to sign up to the library for free if required - please bring some photo ID) and then come in to collect their stickers for each book that's read. Then, once they've finished, they'll receive a medal and certificate in their school assembly in September.

So come down and sign up, from Saturday 4th July (we are open from 10am-1pm on Saturday). See you all there, and happy reading !
