A brief update this week from your usual ASB crew, S/Sgt Tom and SC Tom.
On Tuesday evening, we carried out regular patrols across hotspot areas where we continue to receive reports of car cruising, street racing and vehicleโrelated ASB. All key locations across the Hinckley and Blaby area were covered this evening.
Thank you to those who continue to report incidents to us, every call helps us to build a picture of the issue and really helps us to inform where and when we patrol. We also spoke to a number of our callers directly, updating them on our ongoing activity through Operation Spinner to reassure that their concerns are taken seriously.
๐๐จ While patrolling in the Markfield area, we attended one of our known sites following previous reports of drifting and street racing. As we arrived, a BMW driver chose to drift around the roundabout in front of a group of spectators. Unfortunately for him, he failed to spot our marked police vehicle waiting just back from the junction. We moved in immediately, stopped the vehicle and took action. The car was seized without warning under anti-social behaviour powers and the driver was reported for the offence of careless driving (not for the first time either ๐ฌ).
We will continue to take firm action against anyone who chooses to use our roads as a racetrack or drag strip. We also gathered details of other attending vehicles and will be conducting enquiries and enforcement where appropriate.
Throughout the evening we also conducted high-visibility patrols in some of our burglary, and vehicle theft hotspots. We carried out a number of vehicle stop checks, speaking to drivers and carrying out further enquiries where required.
