It's Mental Health Awareness Weekπ§
Accessible travel is essential to mental health and wellbeing - for many people across the UK, community transport is a lifeline to friendship, independence, healthcare, volunteering, shopping, and social connection.
Our 2024 Mapping England Passenger Survey found that 46% of passengers said they would not have travelled at all without Community Transport, and a quarter of respondents said they would miss important activities or be unable to leave home without these services.
Passengers repeatedly described Community Transport as vital for reducing loneliness and isolation and improving mental health.
βIt is the only time of the week I go out of the village and would miss meeting people on the bus.β
Lack of accessible transport increases isolation and negatively impacts mental health, particularly for older people, disabled people, and those living in rural communities.
