Please give your vote on Tommy
As part of the World War One centenary commemorations, the WWI panel has been looking at completing its work of commemoration and remembrance in 2018 with two stunning events. The Granting of the Freedom of the Borough to the Royal Anglian Regiment with a grand march past through the borough has been agreed. The second project needs your help; the potential installing of a statue of ‘Tommy’ in the Jubilee Gardens, Hoddesdon (one possible location).
‘Tommy’ would represent the many soldiers who gave their lives during the conflict of the Great War and a tangible symbol for us as a community remembering our fallen in wars since. It would be life-size in height and cast in steel or bronze.
Costs have been estimated at approximately £80,000 and we are interested in hearing the views of the community about the idea, in particular, whether the public would be willing to make a public subscription towards the costs; making the idea happen.
For this community project everyone is being asked a simple yes/no question on the idea and to indicate this on the borough website.

TODAY at 10am-6pm sees YET ANOTHER big Community Town Centre Event of the year in the Borough of Broxbourne in HODDESDON.
HODDESDON LOVES CHRISTMAS!
OUR Town will be PACKED with Stalls selling Christmas Gifts, Food and Craft Items along with Children's Funfair Rides, Nativity Scenes, Local Singers & Musicians, oh and don't forget the 'Big Man' himself will be in his Grotto at 'Your Town' in Fawkon Walk.
The BIG finale is a free Firework Display at 5.45pm over The Clock Tower.
Morrisons and Sainsburys give you THREE hours free parking and The Spotlight Car Park is UNLIMITED time for free parking.
I would be really appreciative if you came to support this as SO much work has gone into this event by SO many people in The Borough of Broxbourne.
Thank you to everyone who has worked extremely hard on this event plus the Sponsors who the LoveHoddesdon Group would not be able to deliver without their support.
