ANNUAL PARISH MEETING - 27TH MAY 2026 @18:00 METHODIST HALL, ALBERT WALK.
An Annual Parish Meeting is a legal gathering of local residents (registered electors) rather than a formal meeting of the local council. Required by law in England to be held between March 1 and June 1, it allows the community to discuss local issues, ask questions, and review reports from the parish council and local organizations.
It is not a council meeting: Although the parish council chair or a local councillor will usually host or chair the session, it is an open forum for the public, not a standard council business meeting.
Who can participate: Any registered local elector can attend, raise questions, make suggestions on community issues, and vote on topics or resolutions.
Effect of resolutions: While the community can pass resolutions and make suggestions, these are generally persuasive rather than legally binding on the parish council.
