Searston Avenue Recreation Ground – Important reminder for residents

The Parish Council has received a number of reports that the recreation ground is being used as an enclosed dog exercise area, with the existing gate being used to restrict access to the field. The recreation ground is a shared community space for everyone to enjoy, and we want to make sure it remains open and accessible to all residents. As a result, the Parish Council will be removing the existing gate to discourage the field from being used as an enclosed dog exercise area.

Responsible dog ownership

We understand that many residents enjoy walking their dogs on the recreation ground, and we simply ask that everyone does so responsibly:
- Please pick up after your dog.
- Please use the waste bin at the entrance.
- Keep your dog under control and be considerate of other users.

Help us keep the recreation ground clean, safe and welcoming for everyone.

Plans for the future

The Parish Council purchased the land from Derbyshire County Council to protect it for the benefit of the local community. We are currently looking at opportunities to develop and improve the site for recreational use and hope to bring forward plans in the future.

We welcome constructive suggestions from residents as we consider how the recreation ground can best serve our community.

The recreation ground belongs to the community, let's all work together to keep it a space that everyone can enjoy.

Saturday, 25th July | 9.45am until 1pm | Heath & Holmewood Parish Council

The Rapid Response Team (RRT) will be providing a free BBQ meal for everyone who takes part in the litter pick.

The Chesterfield Litter Pickers group will be joining us to support the event. ♻️

The NEDDC Pride in Place team will be in attendance, giving residents the opportunity to take part in the community funding consultation.

Please come along, help keep the Parish tidy, have your say on future investment in the area, and enjoy the community activities on offer!

The parish council is pleased to announce its support for the Holmewood Summer of fun event on Monday 27 July from 11am - 1pm. Please come along to enjoy a summer of fun within the community.

Free lunch and drinks for everyone!

There's loads of exciting things happening on the day of course including:

- The Nerf Guys 'nerf arena battlefield'
- Fire engine & police car
- New age Kurling & Boccia
- Football training and games with Chesterfield FC Community Trust
- Arts and crafts
- Climbing wall
- Yoga
- Adapted Bicycles
- Face Painting
- Lego club!

No booking required, just turn up on the day!

The Parish Council is inviting residents to take part in a short poll to help determine whether there is sufficient local support for investing in allotment provision within the parish.

Over recent months, the Council has received enquiries from residents interested in allotments. In response, councillors are exploring whether allotments could be provided locally to meet current and future demand.

The closing date for responses is 7th July 2026.

Heath Flower Festival 2026 🌸

Join us at All Saints Church, Heath for this year’s Flower Festival taking place 18 – 25 July 2026.

Enjoy a wonderful celebration themed around popular songs from the 50s, 60s and 70s – brought to life through beautiful floral displays.

Everyone is welcome – why not pop along and enjoy a lovely day out in the community?

Speed indicator device installed on Mansfield Road, Heath.

The device has been positioned to help encourage drivers to be more aware of their speed when travelling through the village, with the aim of improving road safety for residents, pedestrians, and all road users.

The Parish Council hopes this initiative will have a positive impact in reducing speeding traffic through Heath and demonstrates its ongoing commitment to responding to community concerns and delivering practical improvements where possible.
