🌿 Got 17 minutes?

The Eden Project’s Greentime17 campaign encourages us all to spend a little time in nature each day — whether that’s a gentle walk, watching the birds or simply sitting somewhere green.

Here in the Holme Valley, there are plenty of places to pause and enjoy what’s around us. Why not give it a go?

Grant Spotlight: Holme Village Community Centre – Building Improvements.

Over the next few months, we’ll be highlighting some of the local projects supported by Parish Council grants and the difference they make to our community.

First up: Holme Village Community Centre, where volunteers have been renovating the building to bring more space into use for the village and wider valley.

A £5,000 grant from Holme Valley Parish Council helped replace unsafe, uneven flooring upstairs. Alongside a stair lift and accessible toilet, the new floor helped prepare the space for community use.

The centre described it as “the final stage in getting the building ready for community use”.

Plans include arts, crafts, talks and performances — opportunities to meet, learn and build friendships closer to home.

Have a community project in mind? Our grants support local groups improving community spaces and delivering activities and events. The next application deadline is 31 January 2027. Find out more on the Parish Council website under Grants:
