Due to the high temperatures forecast for the next couple of days we are temporarily closing the refreshment kiosk. It gets very hot in there so we are keeping it closed for the staff wellbeing.

Visitor Reception will have bottled water and snacks available to buy if you have not brought your own.

Find nature-themed activities to enjoy with children on every visit to the Courts. The lawns are great for picnics and you can borrow explorer backpacks with binoculars and magnifying glasses - perfect for bird and bug spotting!

The forest school area is also open for free-play with mud kitchen and den building.

Q. What do sea kale, lemon meringue and black stockings have in common? A. They're all flowering at the Courts in June!

As we ease into summer the garden is getting even more colour, what's your favourite bloom to look out for?

Plants in order: 1. Crambe cordifolia (Greater sea kale), 2. Baptisia 'Lemon Meringue' , 3. Thalictrum 'Black Stockings' (Meadow rue 'Black Stockings'), 4. Iris 'Shannopin' (Bearded iris ‘Shannopin’), 5. Cornus kousa subsp. Chinensis (Chinese Dogwood)

Meet the Courts' newest garden tool, and no offence to trowels and hedge-trimmers but this one has a little more personality.

The robot mower can mow the entire lawn in one night, knows where all the edges are, stops for wildlife (and stray feathers!) and takes itself off to 'bed' each morning to charge just as the garden team arrive. Such a handy helper needs a name, look out for the polling box near its charging port to add your nomination.

Bees and tadpole spotting in the garden this week. Some plants are buzzier than others, with the bees enjoying this apple blossom as well as the wisteria which is trailing up the side of the mansion again.
