📣 DO YOU LOVE LIGHTHOUSES AND SOCIAL MEDIA? 🔦🌊

The Association of Lighthouse Keepers (ALK) is looking for enthusiastic members to join our social media team as volunteers! 💡

This is an unpaid, voluntary role and a great opportunity to get more involved with the ALK, share your passion for lighthouses and help us connect with fellow enthusiasts.

You don’t need to be a social media expert – just a bit of enthusiasm, a willingness to be proactive and an interest in helping the ALK grow its online presence.

📱 Don’t worry – it won’t take up lots of your time! Even an hour or so at a time can make a real difference. Our team works together, sharing ideas and supporting each other, so you won’t be on your own!

Whether you enjoy sharing photos, writing posts, finding interesting lighthouse stories or helping spread the word about ALK activities, we’d love to hear from you!

We are still closed for Maintenance but it’s great to see the work that is going on in this fantastic photograph taken recently by Anthony Ward, it shows the Lighthouse standing bright and proud having been given a new coat of paint on a beautiful Anglesey Autumn day.
We are scheduled to open again for a short while from 30th October before we come to the end of the 2026 Season, watch this site for the reopening date and times.

Holyhead Town Council - Cyngor Tref Caergybi

We were invited and three of our Directors accepted and yesterday attended an unveiling of a permanent memorial to the RMS Leinster a Dublin-Holyhead mailboat that was torpedoed near the Kish Lighthouse some 16 Miles into its voyage to Holyhead from Dun Laoghaire in Ireland on the 10th October 1918, as a result at least 565 lost their lives that day including many crew members from Holyhead.
Our Chairman Richard Burnell BEM laid a wreath on behalf of South Stack.
The day also consisted of a film about the tragedy and a concert by the Dublin Welsh Male Voice Choir.
It was a good but poignant day, a service was also held at the Holyhead Cenotaph at the same time to mark the tragedy.

One of our Directors recently went to see the Europa Point Lighthouse in Gibraltar, it’s the only Lighthouse run by Trinity House outside of the UK and has recently started opening to the public on certain days.
Unfortunately there was nobody about when our Director called by.

As the Lighthouse is currently closed for maintenance and painting some of our Directors and Guides took the opportunity for a fantastic day out at Chester Races today, there were the occasional winner but mainly losers on the horses but lots of laughs and a few good stories from the day, It was a brilliant opportunity for team building and a good relaxation opportunity for all as we head towards the end of a very busy season at the Lighthouse.
