This week marked the end of an incredible chapter as Firefighter Warren Oak attended the station for the final time after 32 years of service in the fire service. Three decades is no small achievement, it’s a lifetime of commitment, countless call-outs, long nights, missed family moments, and moments of bravery that most of us will never see.

Throughout his career, Warren has been a constant presence in the community, serving not for recognition, but because it mattered. He has helped keep families safe, supported colleagues, and stood ready whenever the call came in. His service leaves a lasting impact not just on the fire station, but on the community he has faithfully protected for three decades.

While this chapter closes, Warren will always remain a valued part of the fire service family. The bonds built over 32 years don’t disappear, they last a lifetime. He will also continue his wholetime role in the training academy and his USAR call back. We also extend a heartfelt thank you to Ceri, whose unwavering support behind the scenes made this remarkable career possible. The strength of a firefighter is often shared with their family, and tonight we recognise and thank them for standing alongside Warren every step of the way.

As Warren now stands down from his on-call duties, we wish him nothing but happiness, good health, and well-earned time ahead. On behalf of everyone at Station 40, thank you for your service, your leadership, and your friendship. We wish you all the very best for the future, once a firefighter, always part of the family. 🚒

🕯️🚒🇺🇸 We Remember 9/11 🕯️🚒🇺🇸

24 years on and the pain of September 11th 2001 is still felt.

Today, we honor the 2,977 innocent lives lost in the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, and we remember the 412 First Responders who ran toward chaos and never returned home.

They showed the highest form of courage—climbing toward danger with unwavering resolve to save others.

Their sacrifice embodies the true meaning of heroism and the strength of the human spirit.

Even in the darkest of moments, they proved that selflessness shines brightest.

To the 343 Firefighters, and to all who have carried the lasting wounds of that day.

We remember, we honor, and we will never forget.

🚨 Honiton Fire Station – Specialist Deployment 🚨

On Monday, our Enhanced Logistics Support (ELS) vehicle and crew were deployed as part of the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) network to support DWFireRescue during their major incident.

Following DWFRS’s call for assistance from neighbouring counties, our ELS team provided vital logistical support on the ground, working alongside crews from across the country to help manage and coordinate the response.

We remained in Dorset until Wednesday, when our colleagues from Kent Fire & Rescue Service – who also operate an ELS vehicle – took over the role to continue providing support.

We’re proud to be part of a national network of specialist resources that can be mobilised anywhere in the UK when the need arises, ensuring that fire and rescue services can respond effectively to large-scale incidents.

👏 A big thank you to all involved for the teamwork, professionalism, and dedication shown throughout the deployment.

At the weekend, Honiton Fire Station hosted its annual Past and Present event. The evening offered the chance for past members to catch up with old friends and meet the current generation of Firefighters.

With great stories from old & new shared over some amazing food, there was also an opportunity to look at new equipment and learn how the service has developed over the years. A raffle and auction resulted in a huge success, raising £110 for the Firefighter's Charity and £100 for Sonny’s Solstice (Details in the picture below)

All members celebrated the 134 year history of a Fire Service within Honiton, conculding the night by raising a toast to all members Past & Present. Thank you to Marks & Spencer’s Honiton for the raffle donation and The Craft Cleaver butchers Honiton for providing the delicious meat for the event.

& Lastly, we said goodbye to FF Andrew Binmore who has departed from the station after 18 years service.. Andy was presented an Axe and his certificate from SM Rory Devine. We wish Andrew all the best for the future.

A massive thank you to everyone who came down and helped us raise £1,118 for The Firefighters Charity at our car wash yesterday, we really do appreciate your support. 🚒💦🚗

A special thank you to Tesco Honiton who allowed us to use a section of their car park for the day and delivered so much needed refreshments.
