❗️TRAVEL GUIDANCE | Storm Chandra is bringing rain, wind and flooding across Devon and Cornwall this evening.

If you are travelling on the roads overnight or in the morning, please check the latest travel information before doing so.

We are starting to see some roads become flooded and impassable and this is only likely to increase overnight.

If you know the roads you usually use are likely to flood – please avoid them. Do not attempt to drive through flood water.

If you are using the roads, please drive with caution and care, drive to the conditions and allow plenty of time for your journey. You should also increase your distance from other vehicles and stay attentive to your surroundings.

Your safety and the safety of others depend on responsible driving during adverse weather conditions.

Our Specialist Operations team are looking for any unwanted metal roller shutter doors, sheets of metal or metal skinned doors, which they'll use to practice door-breaching techniques.

The team would also be grateful for any unwanted toughened plastic doors.

Good morning all,

We hope you might be able to help our investigation regarding a cat who was reported to have been kicked in Honiton around the 19 August.

Sadly, Jackson had to be put down due to the injuries he sustained.

We understand that there have been discussions in the community about footage of the incident, which could be incredibly helpful to our investigation. However, to date, this footage has not been provided to us despite a number of enquiries that officers have made.

Congratulations to all those recognised at our latest awards ceremonies. These events are to celebrate officers, staff and volunteers across Exeter, East and Mid Devon who go above and beyond to serve the community and keep us safe. Here we feature double recipients Sergeant Steve Mingo and Detective Constable Alex Powe who both received Chief Superintendent Commendations and Supt’s Certificates recently. Steve was praised for being part of a team who investigated a large amount of stolen plant machinery which was being sold at a property in East Devon. He quickly obtained and executed a warrant which led to a suspect being arrested and an organised crime group disrupted. The property had been stolen at various locations nationwide and was ultimately recovered and returned to its rightful owners.
Steve also dealt with a serious road traffic collision outside Honiton police station, where he is based. The car driver was trapped with injuries and Steve’s actions ultimately saved the man’s life after the man stopped breathing. The officer was able to remain calm, liaise with other members of the public and secure the scene to preserve evidence.
DC Alex Powe, based at Exeter police station was praised for investigating a complicated r**e inquiry which led to the offender being sentenced to eight years imprisonment. The officer also received special recognition for his exceptional perseverance in securing a seven and half jail term in relation to a complex sexual abuse case. The officer worked tirelessly to maintain the victim’s trust and went the extra mile to gather over 40 years’ worth of evidence to put before the court. The case was so strong that the offender pleaded guilty.
