This is yesterday’s rain pouring down into The Bottomless Pit. The flickering shadows are caused by the waterfall cascading over the cave lights. Unfortunately the high water levels mean we are unable to run our tours today - today and tomorrow 23rd/24th December. Apart from Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day we plan to be open as usual every other day over the holidays. ...

STORM BABET UPDATE:

Due to the storm bringing exceptionally heavy rain to the Peak District over the last 48 hours, the Cavern is in full flood condition. We have been forced to suspend the tours for today (Saturday) and tomorrow morning (Sunday).

We hope to be back open for tours on Sunday afternoon but please check here for updates before setting off

Speedwell Cavern is still in full flood this morning and the Cavern will remain closed until tomorrow afternoon at the earliest. Our boats are currently under the water and the recovery and clear up operation will have to wait for the flood waters to recede. Due to the rainfall put down by Storm Babit the Cavern has gone into flood. Speedwell Cavern will be closed on Friday 20th and Saturday 21st October. We expect to be open again on Sunday 22nd. INSTAGRAM HASHTAGS
