Another fine evening canvassing in the ward and meeting residents: this time in Sangers Drive and Church Road areas.

The level of support we have received has been extremely encouraging, hence our smiles! 😎 Thanks also to the chap who met us in the street and offered to buy us both some pints at The Six Bells, too! (Yes, this actually happened).

Residents are reacting positively to our new Horley Conservatives exciting plans for our communities, including:

🏫 - A new secondary school for Horley, Salfords and Sidlow (this has to be by far the one policy that has received so much support).

💷 - Keeping your council tax 𝒂𝒔 𝒍𝒐𝒘 𝒂𝒔 𝒊𝒕 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒃𝒆, which the pair of us have experience in coming from Reigate and Banstead Conservatives controlled Reigate and Banstead Council.

🏘️ - Ensuring inappropriate developments for our area are not given the go ahead - protecting both our green belt and existing infrastructure. Again, something we are both experienced in with our backgrounds and experience in the RBBC Planning Committee

🏪 - Much needed shops and amenities for Westvale which can benefit not just Westvale but the wider area....and we have some very exciting news to announce about this from Monday!

And much more besides!

We are both proud of the positive campaign we have run thus far, and we are excited at the prospects of serving you and implementing these changes should you vote for us on Thursday next, on the 7th!

See you soon!

Not just talking the talk on taxes, but walking the walk, too! 👇

The tax burden in the UK has reached unsustainable levels - under Governments and councils of all colours.

It comes at a time when many of us are facing stubbornly high inflation and cost of living challenges, while Starmer and Reeves are seemingly determined that we keep even less of the money we earn following their Budget next week.

It’s time to change the dial, and this proposal from our local Conservatives team on Reigate and Banstead Borough Council to freeze council tax is an important step!

I’ve always believed we as individuals are best equipped to spend our money, rather than Government - be that national or local - and so naturally welcome this proposal.

REMINDER: The UK government is testing the Emergency Alerts system on Sunday 7 September 2025 at 3pm.

Your mobile phone or tablet will vibrate and make a loud siren-like sound, even if it’s set on silent. The alert message will confirm this is a test and that you do not need to take any further action.

Regular testing ensures the system is functioning correctly, should it need to be used in a life-threatening emergency. Find out more at https://gov.uk/alerts.

You can opt out of the Emergency Alerts, including the national test, but you should keep them switched on for your own safety.

Emergency Alerts will warn you via your mobile or tablet if there's a life-threatening emergency nearby. Only the government and the emergency services are able to send them.

There are simple and effective steps we can all take to be more prepared for an emergency. Visit https://orlo.uk/FC3gV for advice on how you can prepare.

We wish Sujata Das all the very best in tomorrow’s Horley West by-election for the town council.

She would be a superb councillor if elected; she is hard working and keen to make improvements for the benefit of Horley West residents. She is local too, living in Westvale Park for the past seven years.

If you are eligible to vote tomorrow, please do consider voting for her.

And that's a wrap up of canvassing before the by election tomorrow. I have thoroughly enjoyed the past few weeks of speaking to residents at doorsteps.
Thank you Simon Marshall Cllr Samantha Marshall Taylor O'Driscoll Cllr Giorgio Buttironi Jante, Philipa, Tim Hall - Working for Leatherhead & Fetcham East Councillor Jed Dwight for all your help.
