This photograph looking north from the promenade dates from November 2017.
The sand on the beach has been stripped off and the pillbox which once stood on the cliff top has once again been revealed.
It is usually covered by the sand, but appears every so often.
The wind farm along the coast was under construction as at this time there were only 4 turbines.

We are not sure of the date of this photograph of what was then the Victoria Gardens, but we are guessing around 1910 or...

We are not sure of the date of this photograph of what was then the Victoria Gardens, but we are guessing around 1910 or so.
What is now the car park is behind the fence on the extreme left of the photo and the path and bandstand are long since gone, although the shelter behind the bandstand +is still there today but now with no glass in it.

This photograph dates from November 2017 before the Leisure Centre was rebuilt and the buildings surrounding the clock tower on the promenade were demolished.
The use of a fairly long lens has foreshortened the scene somewhat.

By late August of 1926 the water pipeline from Hull had been started.
It was to go via Coniston, Ellerby Station, and Great Hatfield.
A water tower was to be built at Rolston Seats.
