Every child deserves to feel a sense of acceptance and belonging.

🎥 In this video, Imam and Psychotherapist, Abdul Majid shares the importance of fostering children and young people, and invites you to find out more!

There are currently 97 Muslim children we care for across West Sussex and we urgently need more Muslim carers who can nurture their culture, faith and traditions.

If you'd like to find out more about fostering or supported lodgings (for young people aged 16+), join us for an information event on Saturday 19 September, 2pm to 3.30pm at Langley Green Youth Centre, Crawley.

This event is co-hosted by Fostering West Sussex and Crawley Muslim Network, with support from Imam Abdul Majid.

It's open to all, with activities to keep children entertained, and free refreshments. 🍰 🍵

Nessa shares, "Moving to Supported Lodgings was the best decision I've ever made as it really helped me find myself". This is just one of the powerful reflections Nessa has shared about her experience of Supported Lodgings. With support from her host, from helping her manage her diet and find work, to encouraging her to believe in herself, Nessa was supported to grow in confidence and become the person she is today.

Nessa’s story is a wonderful example of the life-changing difference Supported Lodgings can make for young people aged 16–24 across West Sussex who need stability, encouragement and the right support as they prepare for adulthood.

As a Supported Lodgings host, you’ll receive:
• A financial package starting from £15,538 per year for each young person in your care.
• Dedicated support throughout.
• Ongoing training and development.

Whether you’re looking for a meaningful role alongside your work, or you want to do something with your spare room that will positively impact your local community, we'd love to hear from you!

Supported Lodgings is a brilliant way to make a real difference to a young person aged 16–24, offering a stable home, encouragement and the chance to build the skills they need for independent living, all while maintaining your existing life commitments, such as full-time work if you want to. Alongside the emotional reward of helping a young person grow in confidence, Supported Lodgings hosts also receive £15k+ a year for doing this role.

We are excited to be at Crawley Pride 2026 tomorrow, 22nd August from 11am, alongside our Children's Voice and Participation team!

If you are keen to explore fostering and have ruled yourself out, Nikki, Georgia and Jane will be here to help bust some myths about who can foster.

We also have temporary tattoos, rainbow face paint, and a giant buzz wire game! Hope to see you there!

If you can't make it to Crawley Pride, we have an online LGBTQ+ fostering and adoption information session this Thursday at 7pm. Visit www.fosteringwestsussex.org.uk/info-sessions for booking details.

Fostering is full of small moments that mean the most to our cares. Sometimes it’s a child feeling calm enough to join in at the dinner table, a goodbye that feels a little less hard, or a quiet “goodnight” that carries more trust than words can say. These are the moments that remind foster carers why what they do matters so much, even when the progress feels slow or the days feel full.

We’d love to hear from our fostering community here. What’s one small moment that’s stayed with you? Share yours in the comments or send us a direct message to help us celebrate the everyday moments that make fostering so special! 😊
