A little reminder that we are in the process of advertising for a new Councillor to join us here at Howden Town Council.
It's our May Full Council meeting tonight (Tuesday) - as always, this (as with all Full Council and Committee meetings) is open to the public.
If you're thinking of applying but wondered how a meeting works, why not come along and see if it's for you.
If you would like any further information on either the vacancy or any meeting please don't hesitate to contact me at [email protected].
Thank you
Howden Town Council is inviting residents with a passion for their community to step forward and apply to become a Town Councillor through co-option, following the resignation of Councillor Roberts.
Town councillors play a vital role in representing the interests of local people and helping to shape the future of the community. Working together as a council, they make decisions on a wide range of local issues and services that directly affect residents’ day-to-day lives.
Councillors are responsible for:
• Listening to the concerns and ideas of residents and acting as a voice for the community
• Making decisions on local assets such as Howden Marsh, Knedlington Road Cemetery, some open spaces, events, town initiatives and small-scale infrastructure
• Setting priorities and helping to allocate the council’s budget
• Supporting local projects and initiatives that improve the town
• Working in partnership with the Local Authority (East Riding of Yorkshire Council), local organisations, and community groups
The role is voluntary but highly rewarding, offering the opportunity to make a real difference locally, develop new skills, and be involved in decisions that shape Howden’s future.
The current vacancy has arisen due to a resignation, and the Council is now seeking to fill the position through co-option.
Please see the attached poster for more details, and if you do require more information please contact Sarah Boggitt, the Chief Officer to the Council via email at [email protected]
Thank you
