I had a great visit this morning with this fantastic club that brings in people, adults and children, from all over Colne Valley and some from Crosland Moor. Hope to be able to work with them more going forward
As the season comes to an end for all our adult teams here at Golcar United AFC, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on what an incredible community football club we are continuing to build together.
Football clubs should never be judged purely on league tables or results alone. Every club has different challenges, different journeys and different levels of depth behind the scenes.
For us, football is the tool that brings our community together⚽️
This season we have seen genuine progress both on and off the pitch across every area of the club.
Off the field, the club has enjoyed its strongest commercial year in our history. We welcomed new sponsors and partners to the club, many of whom have already renewed and expanded their support for the upcoming season.
We also launched our first-ever Golcar United Business Hub, bringing together over 50 local businesses who all want to be part of something positive, ambitious and community-driven. The level of interest and support already shown gives us huge confidence that this project will continue to grow in the years ahead.
Away from football, one of our proudest achievements this season has been the launch of our community outreach programmes👌
Working with more than 10 local schools, we have delivered mindset and wellness talks, anti-bullying campaigns and financial advice sessions to support young people within our community.
For next season, we will expand these programmes further with new initiatives covering Money Matters, Social Media Awareness and AI Awareness.
The club itself also received further recognition after achieving 3-Star Accreditation through the West Riding FA — a reflection of the incredible work carried out across the club by so many people, especially Ben Senior, our junior coaches and all the volunteers who truly are the heartbeat of Golcar United FC.
We will also soon be releasing our Social Impact Report, showcasing the true value our football club and what it brings to the local community. The figures produced through the FA-backed report are something we are incredibly proud of and further highlight the importance of grassroots football clubs within society.
Football at every level — from Sunday League to Non-League and beyond — comes with challenges. The key is how we support each other through them.
More than ever, clubs need to work together, share ideas and support one another because survival, sustainability and community impact matter far more than rivalry🤝
If any clubs, organisations or people within my network would ever like to visit Golcar United FC for a chat, a brew or to learn more about the outreach programmes and community projects we are developing, our doors are always open and equally we are open to support and ideas too as we are always open to learning.
Grassroots and Non-League football remain one of the most important parts of our sporting pyramid, and together we must continue protecting and strengthening it for future generations.
