We're looking for a part time cook to join the team at Humbie Hub, three days a week, 8am to 4pm, with weekend shifts on a rota basis. It's a fast paced, open plan kitchen, so you'll need to be comfortable keeping up when things get busy.

Previous experience is preferred but not essential, we're happy to train the right person as long as you're passionate about cooking. Salary based on experience.

Fancy trying your hand at pottery? The Potter's Hut, based right here at Humbie Hub, has a new block of adult classes starting the week of 17 August.

Over seven weeks you'll learn hand building techniques like coiling, pinching and slab work, along with a chance to try the wheel. Small groups of up to eight, with all clay, tools, glazes and firing included.

Classes run Monday and Friday mornings, and Tuesday and Thursday evenings. A lovely excuse to visit Humbie, whether you finish with a browse in the shop or lunch in the cafe.

Both are handmade in Scotland and available now in the shop, a nice pick for him or as a gift.

The Belhaven Smokehouse hot smoked salmon, made just down the road in Dunbar, comes in three flavours: classic, with nothing added but a rich smoky taste, treacle, rich and sweet, and lemon and pepper, a classic pairing for smoked fish.

Henry Borthwick, author of A Journey from Oxton to Fala, has deep roots in this part of the Borders, with family in the Channelkirk and Fala parishes going back to 1458. He had a career in engineering and mining, including time in South Africa, before farming near Oxton and later teaching engineering locally.

His book brings together decades of local stories and his own family history. Available now in the shop.
