The Parish Council has received the following information from Anglian Water:

ANGLIAN WATER - We’re doing some work in your area
Affected Areas : Perry, Grafham, Great Staughton, And Buckden

We wanted to let you know that on 19th October until 6th November , we'll be doing some work near you to fix a damaged valve.

This is part of an improvement work starting in your area. This will continue next year with water mains renewal. We will keep you informed of any work we are going to do.

How might you be affected?
We'll need to close the road. There'll be a clearly signed diversion in place while we’re working between 19th October to 6th November.

Need to get in touch?
If we’ve had to turn off your water supply at any point for our work, you might notice it’s slightly discoloured when it comes back. There’s nothing to worry about, just let the cold water tap in your kitchen run for a few minutes until the water clears. If it doesn’t run clear after this time, please call us on 03457 145 145 and mention the reference number 68464067. You can use the same number to give us a call about anything else too.

National Highways - Important roadworks information
A1 Brampton Hut Roundabout – Drainage kerb upgrade and resurfacing

We’re planning to carry out essential repairs and maintenance at the A1 Brampton Hut roundabout. We’ll improve and strengthen the drainage kerbs, resurface the road and replace the road markings and traffic signal sensors. Once complete, these improvements will help surface water drain away more effectively and reduce the risk of flooding.

We plan to complete this work in phases over eight weeks starting on Monday 28 September. We will work overnight between 9:30pm and 5am on weeknights and one full weekend, weather permitting.

Closures and diversions
To carry out the work safely, we will need to close parts of the A1 Brampton Hut Roundabout and A141 eastbound link, and divert traffic as follows:

Phase 1
A1 Northbound exit slip and entry road into services.
The exit from the services will remain open.
Monday 28 September to Wednesday 14 October 2026
Monday - Friday
9.30pm – 5am
A1 northbound traffic will continue north
exit the A1 at Alconbury (B1043),
rejoin the A1 southbound to exit at Brampton Hut Interchange.

Phase 2
A141 eastbound link between A14 junction 21 and Brampton Hut Roundabout.
Please note, dates for phases 1 & 2 will run in parallel.
Monday 28 September to Friday 16 October 2026
Monday – Friday 9.30pm – 5am
Traffic wishing to join the A141 eastbound will join the A14 westbound at J21.
Travel west to J16 (Catworth Interchange) then rejoin the A14 eastbound.
Travel east on A14 towards J23 (Ermine St Interchange), exit and return westbound.
At A14 J22, join the A1 northbound and continue to follow the above diversion for phase 1 to exit at Brampton Hut Interchange.

Phase 3
Inner lane of Brampton Hut Roundabout (north and west quadrant)
Monday 12 October to Thursday 19 November 2026
Monday – Friday 9.30pm – 5am
From Brampton Hut Roundabout, traffic wishing to join the A1 northbound or A141 eastbound towards Huntingdon will travel west on the A141 link towards A14 J21.
At the roundabout return east on the A141 link towards Brampton Hut Roundabout.
Take the A1 northbound entry slip.
For A141 east to Huntingdon, exit the A1 at Alconbury (B1043),
rejoin the A1 southbound to exit at Brampton Hut Interchange and join the A141 eastbound.

We will be carrying out a fourth phase, which will require a full weekend closure of the Brampton Hut Roundabout from 9.30pm Friday 20 November until 5am Monday 23 November. We’ll write to you again with more details.

For the duration of the works a lane closure will remain in place on the roundabout during the day for safety reasons and to protect the work area.

Please note emergency vehicles will have access through the works with caution.

A1 northbound Little Paxton entry and exit slip roads – drainage and scalping works

We're planning to carry out drainage and scalping works on the A1 northbound Little Paxton entry and exit slip roads. We need to carry out this work to help keep the road draining effectively and reduce the risk of standing water on the network.

We plan to complete this work over four nights starting Monday 21 September 2026. We will work between 9pm and 5am, weather permitting.

Closures and diversions
To carry out the work safely, we will need to close the A1 northbound Little Paxton entry and exit slip roads and divert traffic as follows:

A1 northbound Little Paxton entry slip road diversion:
Drivers wishing to join the A1 northbound at Little Paxton will be directed onto the A1 southbound via the entry slip road
Continue southbound to Eaton Socon
Leave the A1 southbound at Eaton Socon
Rejoin the A1 northbound via the Eaton Socon entry slip road

A1 northbound Little Paxton exit slip road diversion:
Drivers wishing to leave the A1 northbound at Little Paxton will continue to Buckden roundabout
At the roundabout, turn around and join the A1 southbound
Continue southbound to Little Paxton
Leave the A1 via the Little Paxton southbound exit slip road

Please note emergency vehicles will have access through the works with caution

🌍 HAVE YOUR SAY: Grafham Development Sites & Local Plan Update 📋

Huntingdonshire District Council has launched its next consultation step for the Local Plan Update to 2046. This plan dictates where new housing, infrastructure, roads, and green spaces will go over the next two decades.

📍 Important Update for Grafham Residents:
Two specific development sites have now been identified for Grafham within the draft plan (Grafham 1: Adjacent to 24 Cedar Close and Grafham 2: South of Village Farm).

These proposed allocations will be a key point of order and will be discussed at our next Parish Council meeting.

We're planning to carry out resurfacing works on the A1 southbound between Buckden and Diddington. Once complete, drivers should benefit from a safer, smoother road surface.

We plan to complete this work overnight on Tuesday 22 September 2026. We will work between 9pm and 5am, weather permitting.

Closures and diversions
To carry out the work safely, we will need to close the A1 southbound between Buckden and Diddington and divert traffic as follows:

Drivers will leave the A1 at Buckden roundabout
Join the A14 eastbound at junction 22
Continue on the A14 to junction 23
Join the A1198 southbound towards Caxton Gibbet
Follow the A428 westbound
Rejoin the A1 at Wyboston

Please note emergency vehicles will have access through the works with caution

The email claiming you've won a prize, the text message telling you you've missed a delivery, or the phone call from the bank to let you know there's been some suspicious activity on your account...

Most of us can spot phishing scams a mile off – the typos, the elaborate email addresses and the urgency to take action by clicking a link or divulging your details.

But before you dismiss these scams as something you won't fall for, remember, fraudsters are getting more sophisticated with their messaging, and it only takes one lapse in concentration while battling through the chaos of life to fall victim.

Race Harborough

On Sunday, 11th October 2026 I am organising the Grafham Water Trail Races - 10k and half marathon running races - that start and finish at Marlow Park, Grafham Water.

The half marathon starts at 09:00 and the 10k at 09:15.

As you can see, both routes head out of Marlow Park on the main path, before joining the trails along the shoreline at Church Hill Bay and Farm Bay, before the routes split after passing Hill Farm (just before 2 miles on the half marathon route and just after 3k on the 10k route).

At the split point the 10k route bears right onto Hartham Street before turning right onto Easton Road for a brief moment, before turning right back onto the trails and joining the Three Shires Way by West Wood before bearing right across the footpath and onto Church Road. The route then proceeds along Church Road towards Grafham Village, before turning right onto Church Hill. At the end of Church Hill the route turns left and follows the main path on Grafham Water back to the finish at Marlow Park.

The half marathon route, at the split point, continues on the trails around Sanctuary Bay, Savages Creek, before running the trails in an ’S’ shape alongside Littless Creek, Dudley Creek, Valley Creek, and above Perry West Wood. At 6.5 miles the route joins the Three Shires Way towards, and through, Dillington Village. It then continues along the Three Shires Way, past Midloe Grange, before deviating slightly, before Honey Hill Plantation, to use a section of footpath, before joining the Three Shires Way again by Highfield Farm, across the B661, and onto Grafham Water to the finish.

Signing of the routes will take place on Saturday, 10th October, so you may see a number of small yellow and black arrows appearing along the routes, and a number of warning signs for road users put in place.

These will all be removed immediately after the event.
