The email claiming you've won a prize, the text message telling you you've missed a delivery, or the phone call from the bank to let you know there's been some suspicious activity on your account...

Most of us can spot phishing scams a mile off – the typos, the elaborate email addresses and the urgency to take action by clicking a link or divulging your details.

But before you dismiss these scams as something you won't fall for, remember, fraudsters are getting more sophisticated with their messaging, and it only takes one lapse in concentration while battling through the chaos of life to fall victim.

Race Harborough

On Sunday, 11th October 2026 I am organising the Grafham Water Trail Races - 10k and half marathon running races - that start and finish at Marlow Park, Grafham Water.

The half marathon starts at 09:00 and the 10k at 09:15.

As you can see, both routes head out of Marlow Park on the main path, before joining the trails along the shoreline at Church Hill Bay and Farm Bay, before the routes split after passing Hill Farm (just before 2 miles on the half marathon route and just after 3k on the 10k route).

At the split point the 10k route bears right onto Hartham Street before turning right onto Easton Road for a brief moment, before turning right back onto the trails and joining the Three Shires Way by West Wood before bearing right across the footpath and onto Church Road. The route then proceeds along Church Road towards Grafham Village, before turning right onto Church Hill. At the end of Church Hill the route turns left and follows the main path on Grafham Water back to the finish at Marlow Park.

The half marathon route, at the split point, continues on the trails around Sanctuary Bay, Savages Creek, before running the trails in an ’S’ shape alongside Littless Creek, Dudley Creek, Valley Creek, and above Perry West Wood. At 6.5 miles the route joins the Three Shires Way towards, and through, Dillington Village. It then continues along the Three Shires Way, past Midloe Grange, before deviating slightly, before Honey Hill Plantation, to use a section of footpath, before joining the Three Shires Way again by Highfield Farm, across the B661, and onto Grafham Water to the finish.

Signing of the routes will take place on Saturday, 10th October, so you may see a number of small yellow and black arrows appearing along the routes, and a number of warning signs for road users put in place.

These will all be removed immediately after the event.

📢 Buckden Road Power Update

UK Power Networks has informed the Council that they are replacing and upgrading 9 electricity poles along Buckden Road. on the 1st September 2026.

Key Information:

Who is affected? Not all properties will lose power. UK Power Networks is contacting affected properties directly via phone or letter. If you have not heard from them, your property is likely unaffected.

What to expect: Affected homes will be connected to a generator. There will be brief power interruptions when switching over between 07:45 – 08:30 and switching back between 17:30 – 18:00.

⚠️ Please Note: As these works are being managed entirely by UK Power Networks, the Council does not have access to individual property schedules. Please do not contact the Parish Council with queries. Instead, please direct all questions or concerns straight to UK Power Networks or check their online live map.

eCops - Free motorbike course

Dear Resident

Motorbike riders from Huntingdon who are not on a full licence are being offered a free rider training course in Huntingdon.

Sadly, motorcyclists remain one of the most vulnerable road users making up 25% of road deaths. Despite representing 1% of road users.

The 'Ride Safe' one day session is aimed at those who have just passed their CBT or hold an A1, A2 or full A licence.

It is an ideal introduction course for young riders or those who regularly ride but don't have a full licence.

During the session riders will be given a classroom safety session and the chance to go on a ride-on with an expert tutor.

The event is being held by Peterborough and Cambridgeshire Advanced Motorcyclists and has been funded by Huntingdon Freemen's Trust.

Myself and advanced rider and driving school instructor, PC Darren Osker, will deliver some of the training.

The course is designed to help riders become smoother, safer and more confident.

Do you like to shop in St Neots, Huntingdon or St Ives?

Plans developed by Capital & Centric in partnership with Huntingdonshire District Council, will transform the following carparks:

Tebbutts Road car park in St Neots into a mixed-use development. The proposals include two five-storey buildings with up to 83 homes, commercial units, a walled garden and a community pavilion surrounded by green open space.

The Cattle Market / Waitrose carpark in St Ives + Bus Station could become a neighbourhood with 120 homes, a gym and restaurants.

Princes Street car park and Huntingdon Bus Station into 78 new homes, a ‘centralised hub’ for business, and new green spaces.

The developers have submitted plans and a consultation is underway.

Important roadworks information
A1 northbound Brampton Hut Interchange – bridge joint repair works

We're planning to carry out urgent bridge joint repairs on the A1 northbound at Brampton Hut Interchange between the exit slip road and entry slip road. We need to carry out this work to keep the A1 safe and in good condition.

We plan to complete this work over six nights starting Monday 10 August 2026. We will work between 9pm and 5am, weather permitting.

Closures and diversions
To carry out the work safely, we will need to close the A1 northbound main carriageway at Brampton Hut Interchange between the exit slip road and entry slip road and divert traffic as follows:

Drivers will leave the A1 northbound via the Brampton Hut exit slip road
At Brampton Hut roundabout, take the third exit
Rejoin the A1 northbound via the entry slip road
The diversion ends once traffic has rejoined the A1 northbound

Please note emergency vehicles will have access through the works with caution

Huntingdonshire Residents Invited to Have Their Say on New Food Waste Service

Residents are being encouraged to take part in a new survey about Huntingdonshire District Council’s weekly food waste collection service, which will run from 5 August until 3 September 2026.

The free service was launched in March 2026 after new legislation was introduced by central government. It aims to make food waste recycling easier for residents and contributes to reducing carbon emissions within the district.

To date, the waste collection crews have collected over 1,000 tonnes of food waste, averaging approximately 20 tonnes per day. That means around 206 trucks of food waste have now been diverted from landfill, and instead has been anaerobically digested into renewable energy and fertiliser.

Councillor Julie Kerr, Executive Councillor for Parks, Countryside, Waste and Street Scene, said “We are incredibly pleased with the positive response to the weekly food waste collection service since its launch in March. By diverting food waste from landfill and turning it into energy and fertiliser, we are supporting a more sustainable future for Huntingdonshire. I would encourage all residents to take a moment to share their experiences with the service, so we can understand what is working well and where we can improve the service further.”

The survey asks residents to give feedback on the service delivery and use of their food waste caddies. Residents who complete the survey in full will be in with a chance to win a £40 gift voucher.
