It's still just about summer holiday season so today we're asking the question, "Did people in the 17th century go on holiday?".

Many people locally will be aware of the proposals that are in consultation by the developer Capital & Centric for redeveloping Princes Street Car Park in Huntingdon and the town's bus station. We went along to find out more about this as part of the consultation held in the town on Monday evening.

Based on the plans displayed, the Museum's Trustees have agreed that they are against the plans as they currently stand, not least by the detrimental impact they would have on our expansion project over the next few years, as well as more widely on the town centre.

You can read our full objections to the proposals on our website at: https://cromwellmuseum.org/about-us/our-response-to-the-proposed-redevelopment-of-princes-street-car-park-and-huntingdon-bus-station/

Is this a portrait of Cromwell's Mum?

There are no definitive portraits of Elizabeth Cromwell, née Steward, so historians simply do not know what she looked like!

However, this portrait was displayed as Elizabeth Cromwell at Hinchingbrooke house for many years and definitely fits the brief of what art historians look for in finding her likeness.

What do you think? Do you think this could be Oliver Cromwell's mother? Or is this painting no more likely to be her than any of the others?
