A significant milestone for Huntingdon as construction begins on the new Sport and Health Hub.

We're proud to have worked alongside Huntingdonshire District Council, St Peter's School Huntingdon and local sports clubs to help bring this vision forward. The project demonstrates the value of partnership working, with considerable input from staff across both councils and community stakeholders behind the scenes.

We look forward to seeing the Hub develop into a facility that benefits residents, schools, clubs, and the wider community for generations to come.

Construction soon to start on the Huntingdon Sport and Health Hub!

Huntingdonshire District Council officers joined councillors and project partners to celebrate the beginnings of construction for the new hub, marking a significant milestone in the enormous investment in leisure and wellbeing facilities in Huntingdonshire. This phase of work comes after the the commencement of works on the new 3G pitch earlier this year, and is the next step in bringing forward a range of opportunities for residents of all ages to stay active and connected.

Huntingdon Town Hall will be lit up in purple tonight for DLD Awwareness Day.

Developmental language disorder (DLD) is a type of speech, language and communication need (SLCN) that affects the way that children understand and use language. DLD increases the risk of a range of negative impacts on education, employment, and social and emotional problems, but appropriate support can make a difference. DLD affects 7.58% of children.

Speech and language therapists (SLTs) support to put strategies into the classroom in order to maximise children’s language learning and use. They support a range of language difficulties by helping others, e.g. teachers and parents, in their use of communication techniques and communication friendly classrooms.

Huntingdon Town Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Rob Bradshaw as the Town’s new Macebearer for 2026-27, a role that plays an important part in supporting the Mayor and maintaining the civic traditions of Huntingdon.

Rob’s appointment also continues a family connection to the role. His grandfather, Fred Bradshaw, served as Huntingdon’s Macebearer for 25 years from the 1960s to the early 1990s, making the appointment a particularly meaningful one.

Huntingdon Town Council is proud to be flying the Pan-African Flag throughout Black History Month.

The Pan-African Flag has become an internationally recognised symbol of unity, heritage, pride, and solidarity for people of African descent around the world.

We are delighted to share that planning permission has now been granted for this flag to be flown at the Town Hall, allowing the Council to mark Black History Month in a visible and meaningful way.

Pictured are the Mayor of Huntingdon, Cllr Patrick Kadewere, alongside Cllr Yavin Owens, who proposed the inclusion of the Pan-African Flag in the Town Council's annual flag-flying schedule, together with fellow councillors and officers supporting the occasion.

By flying the Pan-African Flag during Black History Month, Huntingdon Town Council recognises the contributions that Black communities have made, and continue to make, to our society, culture, and local community. It is also an opportunity to reflect on history, promote understanding, and reaffirm our commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Tonight, Huntingdon Town Hall is lighting up purple to support Cauda Equina Syndrome Awareness Day.

Cauda Equina Syndrome (CES) is a serious condition caused by compression of the nerves at the bottom of the spinal cord. Recognising the warning signs and seeking urgent medical attention when they occur can be critical, as up to six people are diagnosed with CES each day. When it comes to CES, every hour matters.

We are proud to stand alongside those affected by Cauda Equina Syndrome and help raise awareness of this important condition.
