Supporting officers from above 👀

In the past year our drones have helped find 55 missing people, helped us track down 50 suspected criminals, helped locate 29 vehicles and helped block off and contain 36 areas of our county.

Our Operational Support Unit (OSU) uses cutting-edge technology to assist frontline officers and help safeguard vulnerable people across Cambridgeshire.

☕️ It was lovely to spend some time with residents at St Ives Methodist Church this week and hear their stories of growing up in the local area.

One conversation in particular brought plenty of smiles. A gentleman recalled being caught scrumping apples from an orchard in Hilton by the local bobby many years ago. Rather than getting a telling-off, his punishment was to eat four large cooking apples on the spot!

Needless to say, he spent the rest of the evening with a rather upset stomach and, fearing he'd be in even more trouble at home, never told his parents what had happened. 🍏😅

While policing may have changed a little over the years, it's always a pleasure to sit down, listen and share a laugh with members of our community. Thank you for making us so welcome and for sharing your memories with us. 💙👮‍♀️👮‍♂️

🎡 For the past three nights, St Ives Fair has brought thousands of people into the town to enjoy the popular family event.

While the rides and attractions were in full swing, your neighbourhood policing team was out on both high-visibility and plain-clothes patrols to help keep everyone safe and ensure families could enjoy the fair.

Throughout the week, officers have been:
✅ Speaking with stallholders and local businesses about concerns around youth anti-social behaviour
✅ Engaging with parents and children attending the fair
✅ Talking to large groups of young people to address disruptive behaviour and explain the impact large gatherings can have on families and younger children
✅ Carrying out stop searches following concerns around drug use

Thank you to everyone who stopped for a chat with officers over the past few evenings. We hope you enjoyed the fair 🎠👮‍♂️

The reception class at Stilton CofE school recently got a lovely surprise when two of our officers visited them this week.

The children got to learn all about policing, and thoroughly enjoyed seeing how our radios work, trying on some of our uniform, and exploring the van. 👮🚓

They even got to try out having their fingerprints printed 😁🫆

Thank you so much for inviting us, we are glad you enjoyed the visit, and maybe we’ll see some of you in the future helping us keep our communities safe.

A man has been charged in connection with a series of shop burglaries and attempted burglaries reported between 13 September and 12 October.

The charges relate to incidents at:
🛒 Co-op, Newnham, Cambridge
🛒 Budgens, Bluntisham
🛒 Co-op, Willingham (attempted)
🛒 One Stop, Willingham (two offences)
🛒 Bridge End Stores, Earith
🛒 Premier, St Ives (attempted)
🛒 Kenninghall Stores, Norfolk
🛒 Londis, Soham
🛒 Premier, Soham

The 36-year-old was arrested by officers from the Southern Acquisitive Crime Team and will appear in court today.

We know these incidents have had an impact on local businesses and communities, and hope this update provides reassurance to those affected. ✅

🚜 In just six months, our Rural Crime Action Team recovered almost £700,000 worth of stolen property, helping return valuable assets to their rightful owners and disrupting criminal activity across Cambridgeshire.

Among the items recovered were:

🚗 11 cars
🛻 13 pick-up vehicles
🚐 2 vans
🚛 1 heavy goods vehicle
🏍️ 6 motorcycles
🚜 2 quad bikes
🚜 1 all-terrain vehicle
🏗️ 5 items of plant machinery
🏕️ 3 caravans

✅ A vehicle was stopped and seized after checks showed it had no insurance or valid MOT in Ramsey.

🤝 We attended the Ramsey Network Meeting, meeting with local organisations and community groups. These partnerships are vital in helping us support vulnerable people and ensure they can access the right services when needed.

👮 We also carried out patrols around Ramsey, providing a visible presence and speaking with residents.

🚓 Lastly, we visited RAFA Kidz at Wyton-on-the-Hill to talk about people who help us. The children loved trying on police uniforms, exploring the police car and hearing the sirens. Thanks to RAFA Kidz for inviting us along! 😊

This footage shows the moment officers detained a man in Ramsey before he decided to make a run for it, taking his canine companion with him!

After a short pursuit, officers caught up with him and he was arrested.

He has since been charged with drugs offences.

A woman went to check on the welfare of a man, but instead was subjected to a horrific sexual assault.

Days later, Richard Kemp, 57, of Huntingdon, handed himself in to police, but later denied what he had done.

Following a trial, Kemp was found guilty of two sexual offences and jailed for five years.

☀️ It was a busy weekend for our neighbourhood PCSOs in St Neots, making the most of the sunshine with high-visibility patrols across the town.

🚶 Officers were out on foot in the town centre, visiting shops and businesses, speaking with staff and hearing directly from residents about issues affecting them.

🚴‍♂️ Cycle patrols also took officers through parks and green spaces, giving them the opportunity to engage with members of the public and help keep these popular areas safe and welcoming for everyone.
