Some of our Licensing Officers have been out in St Neots recently, conducting compliance and support visits to a variety of businesses and premises. Our Officers were looking at:

- Alcohol licences
- Late night refreshment licences
- Pavement licences
- Street trading consents

Our Helping Hands in Hunts work closely with businesses to ensure they are operating safely, responsibly and with the correct licences in place. As well as carrying out compliance checks, our Officers provide advice, guidance and support to help businesses understand and meet their licensing responsibilities.

Council will be asked to consider the final draft of the Local Plan on 9 September 2026. As part of the decision-making process, the Plan will first be considered by the Overview and Scrutiny (Performance and Growth) Committee on 2 September 2026, which will make recommendations to Cabinet for consideration before the matter is referred to Council.

If approved by Council, a six-week period of public consultation will take place during September and October 2026, inviting representations on the Plan's legal compliance and soundness ahead of its submission to the Government by the statutory deadline of 31 December 2026.
This represents the final version of the Council's Local Plan, following a number of public consultations that have helped shape its content. The Plan sets out the Council's strategy for future growth while providing protection for the local environment.

Representations received during the six-week publication period will not be considered further by the Council. Instead, they will be submitted directly to the independent Planning Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State. The Inspector will oversee the independent examination of the Plan in public and will take into account duly-made representations received throughout the preparation of the Local Plan since work on it commenced.

We're inviting residents to take part in a consultation on the renewal of the Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) for Dog Control!

In 2023, the PSPO for Dog Control was renewed with the addition of requirements to tackle irresponsible persons in charge of a dog. This was to address irresponsible dog ownership and reduce incidents involving attacks on animals, as well as alarm or distress caused to members of the public.

We’re delighted to celebrate another exciting milestone in the development of the new Visitor Centre at Hinchingbrooke Country Park, with the new steel structure now proudly in place! 🤩

The building is really starting to take shape, giving us a glimpse of the new facility that will provide an improved welcome and experience for visitors to the park. 🌿

A huge thank you to Lindum Group and everyone involved in bringing this project to life. It was great to mark the occasion with our Council Leader, the redevelopment project team at HDC and Lindum’s workforce on site.

A Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funded project in Huntingdonshire was completed this month! 🌟

Fenstanton Village Hall was allocated CIL funding in 2020 and building work has recently been completed, despite delays due to COVID. It's doors were reopened on 15 August 2026, and will now be a welcoming space for the community to come together 🤝

Our Planning team help to secure CIL funding from new developments in Huntingdonshire, and allocates it to support infrastructure that meet the needs of local communities.
