September was a busy month for our Environmental Health Officers, who awarded these businesses across Huntingdonshire a food hygiene rating of 5 (the highest score!).

Our officers carry out regular inspections to ensure food is prepared, handled, cooked and stored safely, while maintaining the highest standards of hygiene.
Thank you to all the businesses that maintain clean, safe environments!

Community-funded saplings uprooted at Paxton Pits

šŸ˜„ We're disappointed to share that four young trees planted along the River Trail at Paxton Pits Nature Reserve earlier this year have been pulled from the ground.

šŸŒ³ The saplings were funded by the Friends of Paxton Pits Nature Reserve and carefully collected by a committee member, who travelled to Aylesbury to bring them back for planting in January and February.

The trees removed were black poplars, Britain's most endangered native timber tree , which makes efforts to establish and protect them especially important, both for biodiversity and for future generations to enjoy.

Acts of vandalism like this not only damage the environment but also undermine the time, effort and generosity of volunteers who work hard to enhance the reserve for wildlife and visitors.

We are currently exploring whether the trees can be replaced and will provide an update in due course.

šŸŒ³ Please help us protect and preserve our green spaces for everyone to enjoy.

Construction soon to start on the Huntingdon Sport and Health Hub!

Huntingdonshire District Council officers joined councillors and project partners to celebrate the beginnings of construction for the new hub, marking a significant milestone in the enormous investment in leisure and wellbeing facilities in Huntingdonshire. This phase of work comes after the commencement of works on the new 3G pitch earlier this year, and is the next step in bringing forward a range of opportunities for residents of all ages to stay active and connected.
