The 2026 Hurstpierpoint & Sayers Common Annual Parish Meeting will take place from 7pm in the Village Centre Club Suite on Tuesday 12th May.

The Annual Parish Meeting is not a council meeting – it’s a meeting of the electors, for the electors.

This year we’re inviting residents and representatives from local community groups to join Parish Councillors for an informal round‑table Community Conversation. Come and share views on local issues, common challenges and future priorities for our parish.

Everyone is welcome – your voice matters.

Over the past few years, volunteers have come together to monitor the numbers of butterflies seen in Hurst Meadows over a six-month period, from the beginning of April to the end of September. The results from the 2025 survey can be found on our website:

REEDS LANE PLAY AREA UPDATE:

Unfortunately our contractor has experienced various issue causing substantial delays on the update to the play area (which should have been completed early March!). We have been assured that the fencing should be removed no later than Thursday 2nd April.

Please do remind children not to climb over the fencing to use the equipment, tempting as this may be, as a final safety check has not taken place.

We are very sad that the play area was not open before the beginning of the school holidays, despite numerous promises from the contractor that it would be, but we hope that local children are able to get lots of use of it over the coming months.

Thank you.

The Parish Council originally requested an extension to the 20mph zone to cover the roads around St Lawrence School.

Following a road safety assessment, West Sussex County Council has recommended extending the scheme to a much wider area due to the risks to pedestrians caused by significant on-street parking. The proposed area is shown by the broken red lines on the map.

A public consultation is now open and runs until 12 March 2026. It is important that local views are shared so there is clear evidence of community support.

You can view the proposal and submit comments online here:

Alternatively, you can email your comments to [email protected]

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to respond.
