Seeing Huxley featured as an oversubscribed school fills me with immense pride.
What makes it even more special is that five years ago today, I had just finished my first week as Headteacher. I stepped into the role a little earlier than expected after receiving a call asking if I could start before September and take on the final three weeks of the summer term.
At that time, the future of the school was far from certain. We had just four pupils on roll at our lowest point, and there were genuine concerns about whether the school could remain open.
Fast forward five years, and we are now oversubscribed. To be in a position where families are actively choosing Huxley and places are in such high demand is something that means so much to all of us.
While the article doesn't specifically mention the flexi provision and alternative approaches we have developed over the years, I believe our journey shows the value of listening to families, understanding individual children's needs, and being willing to think differently. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to education, and we have worked hard to create a nurturing, inclusive environment where children can flourish.
This transformation has only been possible because of an incredible school community. Thank you to our dedicated staff, supportive governors, wonderful families and, most importantly, our amazing children. You are what makes Huxley such a special place.
I feel incredibly privileged to be Headteacher of this remarkable school and excited to see what the next chapter brings!
