Cllr Christopher Stones for Hyde Werneth Elected to TMBC 7th May 2026.

23/08/2026

I have just read a post from Cllr Chadwick.
It seems to have a strong message that the good people of Tameside should be grateful for the Cons group in Tameside to have voted in favour of keeping Labour as The Executive due to the chaos in Oldham.

Now I don’t claim to know the ins and outs of Oldham Council, but looking in from the outside it does appear to be that the fine people of Oldham are baring the brunt of a Labour Executive that is clinging on to power at all costs. No party seem to be able to come to a reasonable coalition and the disaster of The Government looks like it will have to step in (Good luck with that).
The likelihood is that some council members won’t be happy with the positions they are being offered on panels, so if there is no benefit for the individual then the People of Oldham suffer.
This didn’t happen in Tameside due to the Cons group being extremely happy with the panel positions they received from their Labour allies after voting with them at the 1st Council meeting, much to the disgust of one of their former colleagues Liam Billington who resigned instantly after seeing the party he once represented betray the voters of Tameside by aligning themselves with Labour( informally of course).

Now I understand that we are all “electioned out” with Gorton and The Mayoral Elections, and unless the Tee shirt with eyelashes calls a General Election (fingers crossed he does) the next possibility to vote will be May 2027 local elections where you can show your “gratitude” to The Cons Party and Labour for graciously saving Tameside, at the small cost of principles and getting the right job.

Being positive . Instead of finding the worst example of a Council maybe Cllr Chadwick could have highlighted Derbyshire Council, another bordering authority, where under control of The Reform UK Party they are saving money and running efficiently, maybe this is the shape of things to come for Tameside, so please remember to do the same next May as you so amazingly did last May and vote Reform UK and allow real change in Tameside and send The Uniparty into the bin of history.

Have a great week.
