👕 Special Uniform Edition Repair Cafe – Braunton
Saturday 5 September

Getting ready for the new school year? Come along to our Special Uniform Edition Repair Cafe in Braunton, where, as well as all our usual fixes, our volunteers will be on hand to help with:

✂️ Fixes and mends for school uniforms
📏 Alterations (hems, buttons, name tags and more)
🛍️ A second-hand Primary Uniform sale – pick up pre-loved uniform pieces for less
🚲 Bonus: Baz from Pickwell Pedals will be on hand to give your bikes a check-over, ready for the school run!

A great way to save money, reduce waste, and keep good uniforms (and bikes!) in use for longer. Bring along anything that needs a little TLC.

“A law on is becoming more urgently needed by the day.”

Writer, campaigner and former Green Party MP Caroline Lucas is supporting the criminalisation of mass harm to nature.

A large and growing body of environmental regulations around the world are proving inadequate in the face of ecological destruction.

Criminal law offers something different.

It fundamentally alters decision-making at the highest level through personal liability for corporate and political leaders. Before approving major projects, executives must consider whether their actions could cause serious environmental harm.

This legal shift deters the worst harm to nature, protecting biodiversity, climate and communities.

Sustainable Hatherleigh and partners are offering two free Water Quality Awareness & Testing Training sessions this autumn.

These practical sessions are a great opportunity to learn more about:
💧 What affects water quality
🔬 How water testing works
🌱 The role local communities can play in caring for rivers and streams
🤝 Opportunities to get involved in local environmental action

Whether you're already part of a river group or simply curious about the health of the watercourses around you, this training will provide useful knowledge and practical skills.

Poor water quality Is not acceptable. We demand urgent action now! Allowing this to continue not only damages our environment but also our health and economy.
In 2024, South West Water's parent company, Pennon Group, paid a total dividend of £126.9 million. We have the highest water bills of anywhere in the country. There should be no more dividend payments until they clean up their act and our water!

Is XLinks being entirely transparent or are they just managing their PR?
We should demand maximum transparency and honesty from the company. Communities need to know everything in order to make an informed judgement. We need to step back and look at the whole datacentre issue from an environmental perspective before any scheme is even considered.

Site plans for 850-acre data centre and battery site were available as early as March 2025 but developer Xlinks says there were ‘preliminary’ and ‘out of date’
