⚔️ OPERATION SCEPTRE

🚔 Officers from Ilkeston Safer Neighbourhood Team are hosting a 'Pop Up' stand at Tesco, Rutland Street, Ilkeston from1pm.

🗣️ We will be offering advice about knife crime and crime prevention, so please come along and talk to us if you have any concerns.

⚔️ We will also have our knife amnesty bin and encourage anyone with unwanted knives to hand them in– you may have old knives which you don’t use any more, or you may have had a knife that was legal to own privately but, under the updated Offensive Weapons Act, this is no longer the case. Any knives handed in will be safely disposed of and it could prevent them getting into the wrong hands.

We had a special visitor at our Community Catch Up today at Castlefield Cafe. PC Dunn and PCSO Brown were lucky enough to meet Raja a stunning staffy cross who is up for adoption at the moment from the Castlefield rescue.

Both Officers adored Raja, she is such a lively, good natured girl and we are sure she will be soon find a loving new home.

⚔️ Operation Sceptre ⚔️

Today marks the start of our knife crime initiative called Operation Sceptre. In addition to our year round focus on knife crime and educating young people around the dangers of carrying a knife, this week our safer neighbourhood officers will be visible in the community hosting street meets, pop up stands and carrying out knife sweeps of local parks.

We will also be visiting schools and delivering impactive inputs to young people about the impact that knife crime can have and ways to support our plea to .

Whilst it is the minority of people who choose to carry knives in Derbyshire, it can have a devastating impact, and by carrying a knife those people are also putting themselves more at risk of being hurt.

By talking in schools about the impact of knife crime and answering questions, we can educate young people on the many ways , and together we can keep knife crime out of the county.

Our activities this week will include:-

🔹 Knife sweep - Monday 18th May
🔹 Pop up stand - Tuesday 19th May between 11-12pm at Ilkeston Town Football Club, Awsworth Road, Ilkeston .
🔹 Pop up stand - Wednesday 20th May from 1pm community engagement at Rutland Park and out side Ormiston School.
🔹 Community Engagement - Thursday 21st May from 9am 'street meet' at Ilkeston Market Place.
🔹 Knife Sweep - Friday 22nd May
🔹 Pop Up stand - Saturday 23rd May from 1pm Tesco, Rutland Street, Ilkeston

Our knife amnesty bin will be with us during our pop up events and outside the Police Station at other times so please bring along any unwanted knives for safe disposal - no questions asked!!
