🚨 INCIDENT: AGRICULTURAL FIRE – PERSONS REPORTED 🚨

At 2:00 AM this morning, both of Chard’s appliances were mobilised to reports of a fire in the Peasmarsh area.

Because the initial call was escalated to a persons reported incident, Control immediately immediately mobilised a further pumping appliance , alongside a Water Carrier due to the rural location and known lack of nearby water supply. 🚒💧

On arrival, crews were faced with a smallholding consisting of sheds, chicken coops, and fencing well alight.

Thankfully, after a swift scene assessment, the Incident Commander was able to confirm that all persons were safe and accounted for.

Firefighters quickly got to work to surround the blaze and stop it from spreading further, utilizing:

👉 4 Wearers using Breathing Apparatus (BA) 🪖
👉 2 Hose reel jets 💦
👉 1 51mm main attack jet 💦
👉 Thermal imaging cameras to check for hidden hotspots 📸

Crews were also made aware that power to the site was supplied via solar panels, which thankfully had already been safely isolated prior to our arrival. ☀️⚡

All crews worked brilliantly together to extinguish the fire, damping down the area thoroughly before returning to home station at approximately 4:30 AM for well-earned rest.

New incident - JCB fire - Fivehead.

This afternoon crews from Taunton Green Watch , Ilminster Fire Station & the water carrier from Bridgwater Fire Station were mobilised to a confirmed JCB fire which was spreading within the field & to the nearby hedge.

Crews quickly got to work with x2 Breathing Apparatus wearers with one HRJ to prevent the fire spreading further. Once the water carrier arrived this was increased to x3 HRJs where crews had stopped any further fire spread, surrounded the fire & ensured there were not any remaining hot spots.
All crews worked hard to prevent the fire from escalating further 🔥🔥

Last night a crew from Ilminster attended a fire that was spreading rapidly across farm buildings and hedgerows between Westport and Barrington.

We were supported by appliances from Chard Fire Station Crewkerne Fire Station Wincanton Fire Station and Taunton Fire Station. As well as a command support unit from Honiton Fire Station, the incident support unit from Martock Fire Station and a water carrier from Bridgwater Fire Station

Crews were faced with challenging conditions due to the recent heat waves, and worked hard to create a stop using 4 Breathing Apparatus, 1 hose reel jet, 1 compressed air foam delivery and 1 attack jet.

Relief crews from Yeovil Fire Station and Glastonbury Fire Station continued damping down hotspots from 22:00 and a stop was sent back to control at 23:29 where the incident was handed back to the occupier.
