On this day, 6th June 1944, the world held its breath. But the courage that stormed the beaches of Normandy was forged long before, right here on the shores of Loch Fyne.

During the Second World War, Inveraray Castle became the nerve centre of Britain's amphibious training programme. Over 250,000 Allied troops passed through these grounds, practising beach landings on our loch in preparation for the largest seaborne invasion in history.

Today we remember them. 🌹

This gorgeous chandelier, believed to be American in origin, has been fully rewired and lovingly restored and has just taken its rightful place in the Green Library beneath a beautifully repainted ceiling.

The Green Library is available for private events and champagne receptions, the perfect backdrop for your most memorable moments.

Bluebell season has arrived at Inveraray Castle! 💙

Our Woodland Walk and wider estate grounds are carpeted in the most breathtaking sea of blue right now. One of nature's most magical displays, and it's right here on our doorstep.

Thank you to Tracy from & Jayne from our team for these images.

Inveraray Castle was privileged to receive a very distinguished visitor last week.

HRH The Princess Royal, accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Tim Lawrence, visited the Castle in connection with our 'Leading Ladies' project, a momentous occasion and a tremendous honour for all involved.

Mrs Flora MacLeod-Swielicki is currently recreating the stunning outfit worn by the Hon. Mary Bellenden, wife of the 4th Duke of Argyll, as part of the project.

A visit we will cherish for years to come.
