Inveraray Castle Inveraray Castle is the ancestral home of the Duke of Argyll, Chief of the Clan Campbell. Guide dogs welcome.

On the shores of Loch Fyne and in the majestic West Highlands of Scotland sits Inveraray Castle. Known as Argyll’s ‘Jewel in the Crown’, Inveraray is the family home of the Duke & Duchess of Argyll, and the ancestral seat of Clan Campbell. Original Adams' ceilings, tapestries and furniture; a vast array of arms and armoury; five resident ghosts and artefacts tracing the Campbell family's role in shaping Scotland's history are just some of what awaits your visit. There is limited disabled access for wheelchair users due to the loose gravel around the exterior. Please check the website for accurate opening dates/times before you visit.

A striking arrival at Inveraray Castle last Saturday, as the Ferrari Owners Club paused here during a 1,000-mile tour of the Highlands.

From sweeping Highland roads to the Castle courtyard, it was a pleasure to welcome the group and their remarkable collection of Ferraris.

A break in the clouds, and for a moment Dun na Cuaiche above Inveraray Castle was caught in a breif moment of sunshine against a backdrop of dramatic clouds and blue sky.

The tower on its summit was built in 1747–48 as part of the landscape designed around Inveraray Castle.
Though it looks much older, it was deliberately built to resemble an ancient monument.

Today, the hill offers one of the finest views across the Castle, Inveraray and Loch Fyne.

Some of Inveraray Castle’s most striking views unfold between the rooms.

Follow us along one of the Castle’s corridors into the light-filled staircases beside the Armoury Hall. Sweeping arches, curved iron balustrades and portraits draw your eye in every direction, while sunlight falls across the soft yellow walls.
