Friends Of Merkinch Local Nature Reserve Welcome to the Friends of Merkinch Local Nature Reserve
Scottish Charity number.

Please feel free to post your
Nature/Environmental related pictures /articles etc Friends of Merkinch Local Nature Reserve believe that everyone deserves access to a green space where they and nature can thrive. We maintain the area with volunteers each week (removing litter, planting trees, maintaining paths and guiding visitors) and offer activities such as guided birdwatching walks and

our Junior Rangers programme. The nature reserve is in an area of Inverness that is the eighth most deprived area in Scotland and we aim to work with local people to improve their lives; both by improving skills with volunteering but also by being part of the community. The benefits of spending time outside in nature are also now well recognised as being good for our mental well-being as well as our physical fitness.

This week down on the reserve- Litterpicks, pruning, painting, Youth Rangers and strimming.

Lots of comments on how beautiful the reserve looks at the moment, this is wholly due to the incredible efforts of our fantastic volunteer team, Chairman and Trustees of the Nature reserve and a few passionate individuals past and present.

Please if you get a chance, take the time to thank these amazing folk for making the reserve what is is today🤩🤩🤩
