Congratulations to Cdt Sgt Saul Anderson who received his Lord Lieutenant’s Certificate from the Lord Lieutenant of Inverness this evening. We were joined tonight by the Air Cadets and Sea Cadets as a tri-service award ceremony.

Sgt Anderson has shown commitment, leadership skills, discipline and integrity in his time with the ACF.

Sgt Anderson has shown good leadership skills and commitment to the Detachment, Company and the Battalion by representing the Battalion as a member of the Cumbria Patrol section. This was the first time he trailed for a Battalion place in a skills competition and was the youngest in the team. 1 Hldrs achieved a gold award and won ‘Best International’ Team.

He then went on to lead the Battalion team who took part in the inter Battalion Mill Skills Competition. The team were awarded 4th place and competed against other ACF Battalions and CCF teams. This was was a remarkable achievement.

He has been delivering lessons at the detachment to new cadets and continually helps to progress the detachment. He shows excellent leadership and has a great understanding of how a detachment runs.

He is always on point by helping cadets in the detachment with advice on wearing of uniform, how to take care of their uniform and encouraging them to progress within the ACF.

He is a credit to his Detachment, Company and the Battalion and is in my opinion an outstanding example of how a senior cadet should act in the ACF.

Huge congratulations

And that’s a wrap 🎥. Our first weekend of 2024, and our final joint weekend with Moray Company.
Firstly, on behalf of Inverness Coy we would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all at Moray Coy for their support during training weekends.

We had some presentations on our final day. Firstly our thanks went to Micah, our chef, who has been pivotal in ensuring we had catering for our weekends.

We said a sad farewell to Brenda, our KP for many years. A huge thank you from all the cadets for your smiling face and cheerful attitude and always there to support our cadets. You are much missed.

Finally, it gave me great pleasure on my very first weekend as OC, to present Cpl Anderson from Inverness Coy with his Sgt stripes. Sgt Anderson has achieved so much in his short time at cadets. He represented 1 Highlanders at the Cambrian Patrol Competition (our youngest cadet at the event) where the Team came home with gold medals and we also won the best International Team event.
Sgt Anderson also played his part in the Mill Skills Competition where he was section Commander. Such an achievement for a young cadet. He led them home in 3rd place in the ACF part of the competition. 2023 was an excellent year where he was able to excel and develop his leadership skills. He is a role model for younger cadets and carries out, without hesitation, the values and standards of the ACF.

Congratulations to all cadets who worked hard this weekend, with many achieving passes towards their star level.

And so another year is almost over………. Tonight we held our annual Christmas Party which was a huge success. The cadets are now enjoying their ceilidh and karaoke and tomorrow they will be a day of sports.

A huge thank you to all the cadets for their efforts throughout the year. They have in total passed over 1200 subjects. 2024 looks like it will be a successful year ahead with the calibre of cadets we have.

A huge thank you to all the parents/guardians who continue to support our cadets in their endeavours.

From all the CFAVs, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and we hope 2024 brings you all you hope for.

Tonight we were honoured to have the presence of our Commandant at our Christmas Dinner. The cadets were served their 3 course Christmas meal by the adult volunteers tonight. The cadets finished off the evening with a Ceilidh. They all looked very smart in their evening gowns and suits and ties.

2023 will soon be here and we are looking forward to witnessing the progression and development (and hopefully some promotions) of all our cadets.

A huge thanks to our OC, Maj Cassidy and all the adult volunteers for their efforts throughout the year in ensuring our cadets can attend training nights and weekend camps.

From our ‘house’ to yours, may we wish you a safe, peaceful and relaxing time over the upcoming festivities.

An excellent day at Murrayfield watching Scotland v Fiji and a win to boot! Huge thanks to BHQ for all their assistance and to our CFAVs who had to ‘suffer’ 🤣🤣 watching the game. The things we do for our cadets!! The cadets were an absolute credit to 1 Highlanders. Roll on 2023 when we will hopefully return again.
