🚨 Water Safety Matters 🚨

As the summer holidays continue and more people head to our beaches, lochs and rivers, please take a few minutes to watch this important water safety message from the Port of Cromarty Firth.

A day by the water can quickly turn tragic if the risks are underestimated. Whether you’re swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking, fishing or simply enjoying the coastline, make sure you know how to stay safe.

If you see someone in difficulty in the water or along the coast, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard immediately.

Please watch the video below and share this important message with your family and friends. It could help save a life.

Stay safe this summer.

Yesterday evening the Highland PICT Team (Prehospital Immediate Care and Trauma) joined us and Cromarty CRT for a show and tell and to go through some scenarios. These sessions are great for us and them to understand each others capabilities and the best way to work together when tasked to the same incident.

⚽💙 Thank You to Everyone Who Supported Team Inverness Coastguard! 💙⚽

We’re incredibly proud to have taken part in Sneckie Soccer 2026, raising an amazing £937 (including Gift Aid) for Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS).

A huge thank you to everyone who donated, supported, cheered us on, and helped make this possible. Your generosity will fund 4 days of specialist nursing care for children and families across the Highlands who are facing some of life’s toughest challenges.

We were delighted to receive this lovely message from CHAS, recognising the efforts of everyone involved. Knowing that our fundraising will make such a real difference makes every minute on the pitch worthwhile.

A special thanks to the organisers of Sneckie Soccer and to our fantastic team for representing Inverness Coastguard so brilliantly.

Together, we’ve shown what can be achieved when a community comes together for a great cause. 💙

May has been an incredibly busy month for the Inverness Coastguard Rescue Team, with 24 emergency incidents attended alongside a full programme of training exercises.

Throughout the month, the team responded to a wide range of callouts, including casualty evacuations from local beaches and shorelines, locating inflatable craft, assisting with casualty transfers from vessels and Coastguard Rescue Helicopters, conducting searches for lost and missing persons, and attending a number of mental health related incidents.

The Inverness Team recently had the pleasure of being welcomed aboard the HM Coastguard Emergency Towing Vessel Ievoli Black while alongside in Ullapool.

The Ievoli Black is a 70-metre Emergency Towing Vessel (ETV) that fulfils the Maritime and Coastguard Agency’s requirement to provide a single large ocean-going towing vessel that can respond to maritime emergencies.

The visit enabled us to conduct vertical rescue training within a live operational environment, simulating the extraction of a casualty from a restricted access area onboard. The opportunity to train in such realistic conditions provided valuable operational learning for all personnel involved.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Captain and Crew of Ievoli Black for their professionalism, cooperation, and continued commitment while patrolling the North and North West of Scotland.

Safe watch.

Today marks a sad day for Inverness Coastguard Rescue Team as we say goodbye to our exceptional 8.5-year-old L200.

Affectionately named “Oor Willie” in memory of our late Deputy Station Officer William Wilson, the vehicle has been a proud and dependable part of our team for many years. Through all weathers and countless callouts, Oor Willie has supported our volunteers in keeping our community safe.

While it’s never easy to see such an important part of the team move on, we’re pleased to know the L200 is heading to its new home with Durness Coastguard Rescue Team in the North of Scotland, where it will continue to play a vital role.

Thank you for your service, Oor Willie — you’ll always be part of the Inverness CRT family. 🚙💛

🚨 Attendance Request 🚨

Yesterday at 18:10, Inverness Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked by Aberdeen MRCC to conduct a shoreline search on a section of the Moray Coast, as part of an ongoing multi-agency search operation led by Police Scotland.

This tasking saw our CRT working alongside our flank stations Nairn and Burghead. Also on scene were RNLI Invergordon Lifeboat and Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 851.

Following a thorough land, sea, and air search, with nothing untoward found, all teams were stood down and made ready for service at 23:00.

Whilst packing up, the teams were treated to an incredible performance from the Aurora Borealis 🌌
