⚠️ Risky Business? Not for Culloden Academy Students! πŸ“ˆπŸ‘

Higher Business Studies students at Culloden Academy School put their risk management knowledge to the test during two engaging workshops delivered by Rhona Morrison from Glasgow Caledonian University.

Exploring topics ranging from social media and celebrity endorsements to reputation management, students applied their learning to real-world business scenarios, sharing thoughtful ideas and asking insightful questions.

A huge thank you to Rhona and Glasgow Caledonian University for helping bring the subject to life through these sessions organised in partnership with DYW School Coordinator Soraya Macdonald.

Yesterday, we were delighted to welcome Rhona Morrison from Glasgow Caledonian University to Culloden Academy for two engaging and thought-provoking workshops on Risk Management.

Our Higher Business Studies students explored how businesses identify and manage risk, with discussions ranging from the impact of social media and celebrity endorsements to the consequences of getting things wrong in the public eye.

It was fantastic to see the students sharing their ideas, asking insightful questions, and applying their learning to real-world business scenarios.

A huge thank you to Rhona for delivering such an interactive and relevant session and helping our young people gain a deeper understanding of the challenges facing businesses today. πŸ‘

It’s fantastic to see young people from The Bridge getting hands-on insight into careers in the hospitality and tourism sector through this exciting programme with Glen Mhor Hotel & Apartments and Uilebheist Distillery.

πŸ’¬Our DYW School Coordinator, Soraya Macdonald, highlights -"I’m absolutely loving getting to work with The Bridge. The enthusiasm from both the students and staff has been incredible. This brewery and distillery visit was the first of three planned employer engagement experiences, designed to broaden students’ understanding of careers within the hospitality and tourism sectors while highlighting the importance of transferable metaskills such as communication, teamwork, confidence, and problem-solving in the workplace." πŸ’¬

We're incredibly proud of the group for embracing the opportunity, engaging so positively with employers and representing their school so well. We look forward to following their journey over the coming weeks as they explore even more career pathways and workplace experiences.

Yesterday was our first DYW trip to Glen Mhor which included a distillery tour. They learnt about pathways, including entry level positions and where they can lead. Next week they will be having a session on housekeeping, and the following week will be in the restaurant. Big thanks to our new DYW coordinator Soraya and CSW Graeme.

🌱🍺 From field to finished product – learning beyond the classroom at Black Isle Brewery 🌿

Great to see pupils from Fortrose Academy gaining hands-on insight into sustainable farming, food production and brewing during a fantastic visit to Black Isle Brewery, organised by DYW School Coordinator Kate Morris.

During the visit, pupils learned about the journey from organic barley to finished product, hearing directly from head brewer Richard about the brewing, canning and distribution process. They also explored the estate farm and market garden with head gardener Jon, discovering more about crop rotation, soil fertility and the importance of sustainable growing practices.

The experience gave pupils valuable exposure to careers across food and drink production, agriculture and sustainability, while also getting hands-on in the polytunnels planting seedlings and learning the importance of teamwork in a real working environment. Opportunities like this help young people connect classroom learning with the industries and opportunities on their doorstep.

A huge thank you to the team at Black Isle Brewery for such an engaging and educational experience πŸ‘
