🏴💪🏴I can’t believe I have to say this but here it is, plain and simple:🏴💪🏴
The SNP is not the independence movement. It never has been. And it never will be.
The independence movement is bigger than any party. It is the voice of generations of Scots who have dreamed of a free Scotland long before the SNP became the dominant force in our politics. The SNP didn’t create independence. The independence movement created the SNP’s success. Forgetting that is not just a mistake, it’s a dangerous illusion.
Right now, the British state is watching us. They see the SNP’s membership numbers falling. They see us turning on each other. They see divisions being stoked between independence supporters. And they are smiling. Because when we bicker and tear each other apart, Westminster doesn’t have to do anything. They win by default.
We need to stop falling into that trap. Unity isn’t about agreement on every point. It’s about recognising the bigger goal we all share. That goal is independence.
Yes, the SNP will survive, and yes, it will come back stronger. But independence will not be delivered by a single party, no matter how dominant. Independence will only come when we unite the entire movement under the banner of a free Scotland.
Here’s the truth: I don’t care which party you fight under. SNP, Alba, Greens, independent, it doesn’t matter. What matters is that you fight. That you stand up for Scotland’s right to choose our own future.
The Yes movement has proven what unity can achieve. In recent Holyrood elections, over 98% of Yes voters supported the SNP. And yet we waste energy fighting each other instead of working together. That is exactly what Westminster wants, for us to lose our focus while they keep their hold.
The fight is not with other independence supporters. The fight is not with other parties. The fight is with Westminster and the British state and if we can’t see that, we are playing into their hands.
We need to stop treating independence as if it belongs to a single party. It belongs to Scotland. And Scotland deserves us to stand together, no matter the party label.
If we are serious about independence, we must unite. Not in theory, not in speeches, but in action. Because the longer we waste tearing each other apart, the longer Westminster keeps Scotland in chains.
The independence movement is bigger than us all. Let’s remember that before it’s too late.
