CPVC pipes have been rapidly utilised in fire sprinkler systems for many years now. However, recently there has been an increase in failures. Investigations carried out have shown that the most common failure of CPVC pipes was due to contamination with incompatible products, most commonly fire stopping products.

In a recent case, we were called to a property where another contractor had installed a non-compatible fire stopping directly onto CPVC sprinkler pipe work. This caused significant swelling and corrosion to the pipe work, resulting in the pipe failing and causing a leak.

Protect and Detect can provide fire sprinkler design and install with correct compliance fire stopping within one package. We can also carry out fire stopping rectification works around fire sprinkler CPVC pipe work, which has been compromised by incorrect products being installed.
