A lot of people have been asking if Crisp Packets are recyclable. They are not included as part of the new recycling service in Suffolk and should go in the Black Rubbish bin. This is because they are made from a mix of plastic and metal materials which can't be recycled using the processes and system we use for other types of materials. However, Walkers and Terracycle have partnered together to create a crisp bag recycling scheme so you can drop off any used crisps packets at public drop off points (https://www.recyclenow.com/recycling-locator) and are also accepted in the Co-op's soft plastic recycling scheme. Our crews have been working hard to deliver new wheelie bins and food waste caddies to homes for the new Recycling and Waste Service which starts in June. They’re almost done but there’s just a few places left to go. So, don’t worry if you haven’t received yours yet – they’re on their way. However, if you haven’t got your bin and caddy by the 26th May, please contact your local authority directly (contact info' in comments). And for those living in flats, new bins are being installed throughout May. ✅♻ Suffolk Recycles Ipswich Borough Council Babergh District Council Mid Suffolk District Council West Suffolk Council East Suffolk Council

Looking for a summer job with a purpose? 🌞

The Better Recycling Team is on the lookout for local people to join us on a fixed-term contract, helping residents get to grips with Suffolk’s new recycling and waste services.♻

While many will find the changes straightforward, some may need a little extra guidance, and that’s where you come in. You’ll be providing valuable support in your community while gaining great experience along the way.

It’s a fantastic opportunity to earn some extra money for the summer holidays, make a real difference locally, and is especially suited to anyone studying environmental or related subjects.

Don’t feel sad for your black rubbish bin. There’s still a few things we can’t yet recycle... vacuum dust, broken plates, polystyrene, food pouches, etc. But, if you use the new Recycling and Waste services, starting in June, correctly you’ll be surprised at just how little you’ll end up putting in the rubbish bin.♻ Suffolk Recycles Mid Suffolk District Council West Suffolk Council Ipswich Borough Council East Suffolk Council Babergh District Council

Your new weekly collection of food waste starts in June 2026. Keeping food waste out of the rubbish bin means we can do good things with it.... like create a biomethane, used to heat homes.... and a soil improver for farmer’s fields across East Anglia. - but take a peek inside the larger Caddy to find a leaflet and a free roll of liners so you’ll be ready when the new service starts in June. ♻ Suffolk Recycles Babergh District Council
