Explanation from a pupil: “When Ipswich Maritime Trust came into school, we learned a lot of interesting things and had lots of fun doing related activities. Ipswich Maritime Trust taught us lots about the history of Ipswich around the dock and the Old Custom House. They also took us on a boat ride on the docks, so we could see the workings of the boat and learn what would happen with the transportation of goods, it was a great experience!
The project started off with felting (which was really fun, however it didn’t work out as we hoped because of the lack of resources - we didn't realise just how much green and blue as would need - and it was pretty tricky too!). So we decided to use acrylic paint instead to create our panels. Around 6-8 children worked on a panel at a time and we had lots of fun doing it. While we talked to each other the aroma of paint made it feel like we were artists, it was really good to spend time being creative and getting to know my classmates even more.”
