The Parish Council have made aware of the fact that nettles are encroaching on to the footpath through Buckles Wood making it awkward to walk through - especially with a buggy. We have therefore contacted the agents who manage Buckles Wood and asked them to cut back the nettles a little so it is easier and safer to walk through.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the theft of heating oil in Hitcham. The incident occurred on The Causeway, B1115, between 18 April and 28 April, while the homeowner was away, and subsequently reported to police.

Homeowners are advised to take steps to protect their properties and oil tanks, with guidance found on the Suffolk police website. These tips include:

Hide the location of the tank
Secure the oil tank within a cage
Install lockable gates
Fit an electronic gauge, which can activate an alarm when the oil level drops
Fit security lights near to the oil tank location
Fit CCTV cameras

We have spoken with the Mobile Post Office service. The van has been out of commission but has now been sorted and normal service should resume this week. We have asked them to let us know if the are unable to attend in future so we can keep you informed.

We are holding an extra Parish Council meeting on Monday 13th October 19:30 at the Village Hall, with a focus on the planing application at the airfield. Please feel free to come along and give us your views in the Recess for public comments. We hope to see lots of residents attending.

We have received a report of sheep on the road at Flowton Brook/The Channel. We are trying to reach the owner but in the meantime please take care of driving that way.

Today the Parish Council received notice of minor road works on Manor Road on Sept 10th which will require a closure on the day

We have just received this email from Suffolk Highways. They are planning surface dressing of the A1071. The road will be shut from 7pm to 5am from Tuesday 29th July to Friday 1st August
