📣 Have your say in the next chapter for Ipswich as consultation launches on proposals for a Town Council.

Ipswich residents, businesses and community organisations are being urged to take part in an important consultation that will help shape how the town is represented and run in the future.
The consultation will run until 9am on the 29 June 2026, builds on strong support from the first phase held last year. During that initial stage, 83% of respondents backed the creation of a town council, with 77% supporting a single council covering the whole of Ipswich.

Armed Forces Week in Ipswich

Throughout this week, the Armed Forces flag is flying at Ipswich Town Hall and also outside the Council’s Grafton House headquarters, in honour of members of the military community, both past and present.

Armed Forces Week 2026 runs from 22–28 June, culminating in Armed Forces Day on Saturday 27 June. We are proud to show our support for the UK’s service men and women - regulars, reserves, veterans, cadets, cadet adult volunteers - and military families.

🎉We are excited to announce that we have extended our Portman Road car park which has now 618 car spaces, with 8 Blue badge bays and 12 motorcycle bays.

As part of the expansion, clear markings have been added at the entrance to the extended car park for both pedestrians and vehicles. These improvements ensure the space is clearly marked and easy to navigate.

With Portman Road car park being only a 10-minute walk to the Town Centre this will be perfect to catch the England Vs Ghana World Cup match at 9pm today⚽.

We are experiencing technical problems with our telephone lines which mean the council is unable to take any incoming calls. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and are working to resolve the issues as soon as possible.

Please note that these issues are not affecting our HEARS service and HEARS customers will still be able to get through.

Work is underway from today on improvements to Arras Square.

The scheme will bring new paving, seating, lighting, trees and improved accessibility, delivered in phases so the square remains open🌿

We are working closely with businesses to minimise disruption and keep everyone informed.
