When someone goes missing, finding them quickly can make all the difference. That's why the partnership between us and Suffolk Lowland Search and Rescue (SuLSAR) is so important.
Made up of dedicated volunteers, SuLSAR provides specialist search teams, equipment and local knowledge to help locate vulnerable missing people across Suffolk, day or night, whenever they're needed. Their support gives our officers additional resources on the ground and helps strengthen the response to some of the county's most challenging searches.
Already this summer, SuLSAR have been called out 17 times in support of police searches, dedicating 2880 volunteer hours. This includes major missing person searches in Trimley St Martin, Horringer & Oulton & two deployments to assist searches in Norfolk & Ess*x.
SuLSAR drone and 4X4 vehicle teams have also dedicated 265 operational hours this month supporting emergency services at the Dunwich Heath wildfire.
As well as trained foot search teams, SuLSAR also provides specialist search dog, water search, SONAR and ROV, boat, and bike search teams. All SuLSAR volunteers train to national Search and Rescue standards.
